I. PROGRAMS

II. COLLECTION
A. Staff sent and received on additional book order to catch up easy picture book purchases. I am holding an
order for YA and Juvenile fiction until after the first of the year.
B. Children’s Clerk, Kelly Olson continued work on data clean up of serials.
C. Staff began weeding Juvenile and YA paperbacks.
III. PROJECTS
A. Signage was redesigned to accompany the PC management upgrade. Northtown Library was the first to
receive new signage.
B. MRAC grant application was submitted, accepted, and awarded. I am pleased to announce that we will
be hosting another Children’s Theatre Workshop this summer for Neighborhood Bridges.
C. The Columbia Heights Public Library Foundation fundraiser was a success. Staff prepared silent auction
bid forms, flyers, posters, and programs.
D. Marsha Tubbs was contacted by representatives from District 13 and asked to participate in a series of
upcoming programs the District is calling “Family Nights”. Marsha has been asked to speak on the issue
of literacy and its importance to a young child’s future success.
E. Children’s staff has begun preparations for the upcoming summer programs. Performers will be booked
the first week and January and supplies ordered by mid-January.
IV. MEETINGS
A. Children’s Librarian, Marsha Tubbs attended the annual storytellers meeting at Anoka County Library.
She and other children’s librarians presented their top choices for read-aloud titles selected from the new
books of 2005.
V. STAFF
A. Children’s Clerk, Kelly Olson continues to spend time on the database clean up project and serials. She
started the year-end statistical summaries, placed and received several adult book orders, and began
closing accounts for 2005.
B. Library Aide, Cristy Tombarge aided in the weeding of the J Paperback and YA paperbacks and created a
holiday display. Cristy also aided in the preparation of four new booklists.
C. Pages completed the donations project and selection tools through September 2005. They have also aided
in the weeding of the paperbacks.
