I. PROGRAMS:
A. Friends of the Library: The Friends of the Library did not meet in January. Their next scheduled
meeting is Monday, February 6, at 1:00 p.m. in the Library Boardroom. At this meeting, the
“wish list” will be presented to the Friends.
B. At-Home-Service: Sandi Engquist made deliveries to two homebound patrons.
C. Bulk loans: I am in the process of re-establishing service to the Crestview Community and have
been in contact with a volunteer there.
II. COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT:
A. I did not work on collection development this month.
III. PROJECTS AND GOALS:
A. Tax forms: All tax forms and booklets received were displayed on Monday, January 9. Rita
Norberg, a member of the Friends of the Library, volunteered to help me with this task. I still
have not received the set of reproducible Minnesota forms and Vol. 2 of the Federal reproducible
forms. There has been a steady stream of patrons coming in for tax forms.
B. Adult reading program: Registration for “Hot Reads for Cold Nights” began Monday, January
23, and as of 1/31/06, 85 patrons have registered. New this year…prizes will be 20, $5.00 gift
certificates from one of these businesses: Panera, McDonald’s, Caribou, Half-Price Books,
Barnes & Noble, Asia Chow Mein, or Target or a movie pack consisting of 2 liter pop,
microwave popcorn, and a coupon for a free rental video or DVD. Winners can choose which
business they want their gift certificate to be issued from. The program continues until Saturday,
March 4.
C. Book display: This month’s book display features books on helping patron’s achieve their New
Year’s resolution. Subject of books include: weight loss, exercise, finances, and smoking
cessation.
D. Fidelity Cleaners: Mitch Kramer, Vice President of quality assurance conducted a walk-thru of
the library on Friday, January 27. Fidelity is in the process of replacing our temporary cleaner
with a permanent employee.
E. Supply ordering: Numerous office and general supplies were ordered this month including paper
products, barcodes, video cases, and security tags.
F. Volunteers: Volunteers donated 4 ½ hours this month by shelf reading and delivering books to
the homebound.
G. Routine tasks: I updated patron records when overdue and request notices were returned to the
library by the post office.
IV. MISCELLANEOUS
A. Sent out January library newsletter to City and ACL staff
B. Submitted articles for the spring edition of Heights Happenings
C. Posted New York Times Best Seller List, weekly
D. Prepared copy for the February library newsletter
E. Posted signs for the closing of the library on Martin Luther King Jr. Day
F. Prepared weekly task calendar
G. I was out of the office with a medical problem from 1/23-1/26
H. Prepared signs for the tax form display
