RESOLUTION NO. 2006-14
BEING A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE
"COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PEACE CLOCK"
WHEREAS: The City recognizes the need to develop civic pride through citizen
involvement and participation; and
WHEREAS: Mayor Gary L. Peterson has begun a S01.C.3 Corp Activity Fund
accepting donations toward a Columbia Heights Peace Clock to be placed
on the public right-of-way at the intersection of Central Avenue and 40th
Avenue, and
WHEREAS: Donors may receive their name engraved on a brick in the courtyard or on
a plaque; and
WHEREAS: A time capsule, with the message of peace, would be buried at the base of
the clock with the intent to be opened on the lSOth Anniversary of our City
in 2048; and
WHEREAS: The intent is to dedicate the Peace Clock to the City of Columbia Heights
at the Jamboree on June 23,2006.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Columbia Heights City Council
recognizes and supports the necessary direct and indirect City involvement toward the
dedication of the "Columbia Heights Peace Clock".
