Rebecca Loader, Library Director SUBJECT: October operational report DATE: October 31, 2005 I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE A. Heights Electric serviced the emergency lights 10/4. B. Water flooded the northern section of the basement adjacent to the emergency door during the storm 10/4. Public Works worked to remove the water from the stairwell drain, and Duall cleaned up the interior water and the carpet. An incident report was filed with the City Finance Department. C. Orkin performed routine pest-control maintenance 10/19. D. The public copier required a service call on the document feeder 10/20. E. Fidelity buffed the Activity Room floor 10/28. II. COLLECTION A. The annual large print order was placed and received. These titles are in addition to those on the Library’s standing orders. B. Two DVD orders were placed. C. The Library’s periodical subscriptions were reviewed and placed for 2006. D. Weeding of the 200’s was completed. III. PROGRAMS A. The Friends met 10/3 with six members present. B. Four sessions of preschool storytime were held during the month. C. The Library Board met 10/5 with 5 members in attendance. D. The Library Board met with the City Council 10/5 to discuss the proposed 2006 budget. E. Classes from Immaculate Conception School visited the Library during the week of 10/10. F. Teen Read Week was celebrated 10/17-10/22 with the theme, “Get Real.” G. Norm Barnhardt put on a magic show 10/20 during MEA. H. John Koblas was featured at a “Meet and Greet” the author program 10/22. IV. TECHNOLOGY A. Becky attended the third meeting with potential Wi-Fi vendors at LSS 10/5. B. The discharge pc has been experiencing various problems on an irregular basis. After troubleshooting, Al switched out the new OPAC pc with the discharge pc to see if the problems will be solved. C. Becky attended the pc management meeting at the County 10/24. This project is on the schedule to be completed in 2005. V. STAFF A. All staff participated in a patron registration review during the month. B. Marsha attended a SRC wrap-up meeting 10/18 at the County. C. The staff judged the fire posters 10/21. D. Jeanine participated in cable shoot 10/26. time. VI. FOUNDATION A. The Foundation Board met 10/12 with all members present. Marsha sat in as Library liaison. Plans for the 12/18 fundraiser were discussed. The Foundation has applied for a second MRAC grant for 2006. VII. MISC A. Major projects a. Presentation of the 2006 proposed Library budget. b. Continuing projects concerning the ILS. c. 2005 budget projections. VIII CIRCULATION AND LIBGIS SEPTEMBER Circulation 2004 2005 Libgis 2004 2005 Adult Effective 2/1/2005 Daily Statistics for September not Juvenile Libgis statistics were available at the present time. discontinued.
