A. Friends of the Library met on Monday, October 3 at 1:00 p.m. in the Library Boardroom. Again

th
Monday, November 7 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dragon House restaurant in Columbia Heights.
B. At-Home Service: I had two requests for “At Home Service”, and Sandi Engquist made
deliveries.
II. COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT:
A. I completed the order for books on compact disc. This will deplete most of the money in my CD
book account. The library will no longer be purchasing books on audiocassette, only books on
CD.
III. PROEJCTS & GOALS:
A. Book display: I arranged a display of books on Poland in honor of October as Polish-American
Heritage month. Members of the Sister City committee arranged a display in the East Room and
also set up a drawing for two plants they will be giving away. I also added many books to the
COH NEW BOOKS account. These books were then displayed in the Adult Reading Room with
a small bright NEW flag to catch patron’s attention. These have circulated very well.
B. Fidelity: Throughout the month, the library has been cleaned by a substitute cleaner, and she is
doing an adequate job. Fidelity is in the process of hiring a permanent cleaner for the library
C. Volunteers: Volunteers donated 8 ½ hours through the Adopt-A-Shelf program and by delivering
books to the homebound. This month, two young ladies from the middle school volunteered for
the “Adopt-A-Shelf” program, and I trained them on 10/25.
D. Routine tasks: I updated patron records when overdue and request notices were returned to the
library by the post office.
E. Supply budget: I updated the supply expenditures sheet through November 14. The end of the
year supplies will be ordered next week.
F. Supply ordering: I ordered office and general supplies this month.
