I. PROGRAMS:
A. Friends of the Library: The Friends did not meet this summer. Their next scheduled meeting is
Monday, September 12, 1:00 p.m. in the Library Boardroom. The Friends continue to save
Campbell’s labels for the Labels for Education Program, and their ending balance as of 7/31/05 is
14,426 points.
B. At-Home Service: I had two requests for “At Home Service” and one inquiry. The deliveries
were made by Sandi Engquist.
II. COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT:
A. I placed two orders for audiocassette books and additional travel brochures and maps were added
to the vertical file.
III. PROEJCTS & GOALS:
A. Brochures & signs: The revised PIN # brochure is ready to be printed. I had signs prepared for
our Labor Day closing and posted them.
B. Annual Report Flyer: The 2004 Annual Report flyer was completed and is ready for distribution.
Copies of the report will be inserted in the September Library newsletter.
C. Supply ordering: Both office and library supplies were ordered this month including book covers
and security cables for the library’s computers.
D. Routine tasks: I updated patron records when overdue and request notices were returned to the
library by the post office, labeled and filed items in the vertical file, and completed withdrawing
all items from the withdrawn sheets.
E. Volunteers: Sandi Engquist donated two hours by delivering books to the “At home” patrons.
F. Book display: “If you like Jan Karon, you might like these authors”, is the book display for the
lobby area. Some of the authors included in this display are: Jennifer Chiaverini, Sandra Dallas,
Clyde Edgerton, Joan Medlicott, and Adriana Trigiani.
G. Bulletin board: The lobby bulletin board features characters adapted from the children’s book,
Wolf by Becky Bloom and illustrated by Pascal Biet.
H. Tax forms: The 2005 federal tax form order was placed this month.
I. Fidelity: We have a new cleaner this month, and she is doing an adequate job and responds
quickly to messages I leave her.
J. Scrapbook: Newspaper articles relating to the library were added to the scrapbook.
IV. MISCELLANEOUS
A. Posted New York Times Best Seller lists weekly.
B. Prepared weekly task calendar.
C. Sent out August newsletter to ACL and City staff.
D. Prepared copy for the September library newsletter.
E. Supervised staff when Becky was out of the office on August 15-17, and August 26.
F. Prepared copy for the employee newsletter, Heights Insights.
