Rebecca Loader, Library Director SUBJECT: July operational report DATE: July 30, 2005 I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE A. The windows were cleaned 7/7. B. Honeywell performed routine maintenance 7/7. C. Public Works prepared the Library’s front and side yards for new curbing 7/7. The City’s concrete contractor will be working on this project throughout July and August. D. A new flag was installed on the exterior flagpole 7/11. E. Mary conducted a walk-through with Fidelity Cleaners 7-19. F. Fidelity buffed the Activity Room floors 7/22. G. The blinds were cleaned 7/25-7/26. II. COLLECTION A. Two large hardcover book orders and two paperback book orders were placed. B. A DVD order was placed and received. C. Due to the decision by Baker & Taylor to stop supplying videocassettes, Becky will transfer unexpended money from the videocassette budget line item into the dvd line item. III. PROGRAMS A. Wacky Wednesday programs were held 7/6 (“Half-Pint & Oscar”), 7/13 (Science Museum of Minnesota), 7/20 (“Brodini”) and 7/27 (“Safari Greg”). B. Funtimes were held 7/7 (“Whose Hat Is It?”), 7/14 (“The Ants Go Marching”), 7/21 (“American Folk Songs”), and 7/28 (“Bears and Honey and Bees”). C. The Library Board met 7/12 with all members present. D. The Foundation Board met 7/13 with all members present. IV. TECHNOLOGY A. Becky participated in the OPAC meeting 7/19. Many customizations have been implemented by the Technology Staff at ACL and more are to come. B. Becky attended the ILS meeting 7/21. C. Kelly working with Lynne Weiss at LSS 7/21 on how to receive against invoices in Acquisitions. V. STAFF A. Becky attended the ACL Public Service Meeting 7/14. B. Becky conducted interviews for the vacant Page positions the week of 7/18. C. Jeanine participated in a cable shoot 7/27. D. Becky attended the LOC meeting at the County 7/28. E. Teri Olberding completed 6-months as a Page during the month. VI. FOUNDATION A. The Foundation Board met 7/13. They finalized the agenda for the retreat 9/10 with the Library Board and discussed the fundraiser 12/18 at the Heights Theatre. The peanut sales at the Jamboree were disappointing. VII. MISC A. Major Projects: a. Implementation of the ILS. b. Recruitment, interviewing hiring of Pages. c. Hearing on proposed 2006 Library budget with Finance Director and City Manager. B. 7/24-7/30 was a MELSA survey week. VIII CIRCULATION AND LIBGIS JUNE Circulation 2004 2005 Libgis 2004 2005 Adult Effective 2/1/2005 Daily Statistics for June not Juvenile Libgis statistics were available at the present time. discontinued.
