MINUTES
DECEMBER 18, 1986
ROLL CALL
Members present:

The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Hollom at 6:30 p.m.
READING OF THE MINUTES
Motion by Rita Petkoff, seconded by Jon Starcevic'to approve the minutes
of the Nowember 17, ]986 meeting as given in writing. All ayes, motion
carried.
PAYMENT OF THE BILLS
Motion by JoAnne Jerna]l, seconded by jon Starcevic that the bills be paid
out of the proper funds. All ayes, motion carried.
LETTERS AND REQUESTS
REQUEST JOHN P. MURZYN HALL/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS LIONS CLUB - KEVIN DOTY
Motion by Jim Fowler, seconded by Jon Starcevic to reserve the hall for the
Annual Sweetheart Dance on Friday, February 13, 1987. The fee will be waived ~
for this event per their request, however, the security fee will remain ntact.
All ayes, motion carried.
CANCELLATION OF REQUEST J.P.M. HALL AND REQUEST FOR RETURN OF DEPOSIT/ ' KMART CORP.
A request for cancellation of the lease for January 4, 1987 from the KMart Corp.
was approved by the Park Board. Motion by Fowler, seconded by Jernall to approve
the request with the return~of all money receivedl, $420.00. Ail ayes, motion
carried. The Board felt that the request should be granted on the grounds that
1.) The cancellation request' was received within five days of the request for the
hall. 2.1t No other requests were received and denied during that period.
REQUEST FOR J.P.M. HALL/COLUMBIA HEIGHTs FIRE DEPARTMENT
A letter has been received for the use of the hall for a retirement party for
Chief Don Johnson on Sunday, February 1, 1987. Motion by J~rnall, seconded by
Pekkoff to approve the request with the fee being waived. The security fee will
remain in effect. All ayes, motion carried. Petkoff asked the Board if there
would be any objection if an off duty Columbia Heights Police Officer donated
his time 'Lo handle security at the hall. The Board had no objection but did
request that we check with Chief Stu Anderson fiEst.

REQUEST FOR J.P.M. HALL/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS HYLAND LASSIES
A letter was read from Gai] Lisowski requesting permission to use the hall
for dance practice on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for approximately
2 to 3 hours from 3:00 p.m. ~to 5:00 p.m. without charge. Motion by Fowler,
seconded by Starcevic to grant permission if a schedule can be worked out with
the Park Secretary~ All ayes, motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
BAR TOWEL RENTAL
Motion by Petkoff, seconded by Starcevic to try the rental of the bar towels for
John P. Murzyn Hall on a trial basis. All ayes, motion carried. It was requested
that Barbara Goranson report back on the outcome.
NEW BUSINESS
Nothing to report
REPORTS
Jolly reported that the skating rinks are in fair condition and will open on
December 19, 1986.
Goranson reported that a new janitor had been hired at the hall and started work
on Monday, December 15th.
Recreation Community Education Representative stated there was nothing' to report.
Hollom thanked the members for the last year of service to the Board statin~ that
the hall was the biggest accomplishment ever attempted by the Board and they all
should be very proud of it.
PRESENTATION OF PLAQUE
A plaque was presented to JoAnne Jernall as this was her last meeting. Hollom
thanked JoAnne for her faithful and dedicated service to the Board.
Petkoff introduced Barbara Goranson to the members as the person in charge of
the maintenance and care of the hall.
Petkoff informed the Board.that there was 2 applicants for the Board position
recently vacated by the resignation of dernall.

Motion by Fowler, seconded by dernall to adjourn.~ All ayes, motion carried.
