ROLL CALL

The meetir, g was called to order by Chairperson Hoilom at 6:30 p.m.
READING OF THE MINUTES
Motion by ,Jerna11, seconded by Starcevic to approve the minutes of the September
2&, i986 meeting as given in writing. A!i ayes, motion carried.
OLD BUS~NESS
Gail Maus and Jeanne Lager were in attendance to explain to the Board Members the
concerns they have regarding the special aerobic Classes currently being held in
the Edgemoor Room. After adiscussion, a motion by Fowler, seconded by Jernall to
~i~ow the special type of aerobic classes being he~d on Tuesday and Thursday nights
to be held in the main hail. Thi~ will be done on a trial basis and when the
classeS end irt November the decision will be reevaluated. Ail ayes, motion carried.
At Salsbury's request the members were requested to indicate for record whether the
use of the Senior Center is to be totally con~rolled by the Senior Coordinator from
the Recreation Department. Motion by Jernall, seconded by Murzyn that all activity
within the Senior Center and the security of same will be under the direction of the
Senior Coordinator for the Recreation Department. Al! ayes, mat~on carried. It was
also reque.sted that the reserving of the Cstrander and any other rooms by verified
before using by the Recreation Department and the Public Works wi ii coordinate with
them when possible.
Rail Maus invited the members to the "Grand Opening" of the new Senior Center to be
held on October °~ 1986. She also expressed her appreciation for the new offices
at John P. ~urzyn Hall.
LETTERS AND REQUESTS
REQUEST WARMING HOUSE BY BANTAM YOUTH HOCKEY
Permission for the use of the Ostrander Pari'. Building had prev[ous':.y been given by
phone survey so it only required 'formal action by members. Motion by Petkcff,
seconded by Murzyn to allow the BaHtam Youth Hockey team tc i~o]d 'a rummage sale on
October 22nd thru 25th. Further that the group clean up the building and area after

the sale and repair any damages that may occur due to the sale activity. All ayes,
motion carried.
REQUEST FOR ~ALL BY COLUMBIA HEIGHTS GIRL SCOUTS
A letter was received requesting the use of the hall and kitchen for a Mother/
Daughter breakfast on Saturday, January 24, 1987 from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Motion by Jernall, seconded by Fowler to deny the request om the grounds that
there is not ample time to clean the hall from the Hockey Social the previous
night. All ayes, motion carried. It was also requested that they work with the
staff to find an acceptable date.
REQUEST HALL V.F.W. POST #230 ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY
A request for the hall was received from Commander Bryendison. The LaBelle Lounge
and kitchen has been rented for a family Christmas party the same day. Because of'
the possible noise in the two open rooms the request was denied. Motion b~ dernall,
seconded by Petkoff to suggest ~nother room at the hall. All ayes, motion carried.
REQOEST FOR HALL/BOY SCOUTS
A request was received from Tom Hosch for rooms to accommOdate?the St. Anthony
District Roundtable meetings the 1st Thursday of each month from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Motion by Petkoff, seconded by dernall to reserve the rooms on a trial basis for the
period from now until May 30th. At that time the decision will be evaluated. All
ayes, motion carried.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY AUTOGRAPH PARTY
Motion by Jernall, seconded by Fowler to reserve the hall for the Friends of the
Library on Sunday, November 23rd from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.-for a autograph party.
The fee for this event w~ll be waived. All ayes, motion carried.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY SALAD LUNCHEON
Motion by Fowler, seconded by Murzyn to reserve the hall and kitchen for September
10, 1987 from 8:00 a.m. thru 4:00 p.m. for their Annual Salad Luncheon and further
that the fee for this event will be waived. All ayes, motion carried.
REQUEST FOR HALL BY COLUMBIA HEIGHTS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Petkoff to grant permission to the Chamber of Commerce
to hold a free seminar on the Tax Reform Act for residents. The hall is being
reserved for the Chamber from 3:30 p.m.. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 8th and
Tuesday, December 9th. The fee w~ll be waived for this request All ayes motion
carried. ' ,
Salsbury stated that.wine and cheese were being served at the Chamber meeting and
requested the Board's decision on whether a security guard would be needed at such
an event. Motion by Petkoff, seconded by Fowler that an event lasting 3 hours or
less and serving non-alcoholic'beverage would not require a security guard. All
ayes, motion carried.

LETTER REStGNATION JO ANN ~kNALL
A letter was received from JolAnn indicating that she would be r~asignin~, from the
Park Board following the December meeting.
DEDICATION CEREMONY
The Board requested'Salsbury to obtain a copy Of the tape of the Rededication
Ceremony'of John P. Murzyn H~]I from Group W. Cable. They also requested information
as to when the tape was going to be played again on cable.
REQUEST FOR USE OF KITCHEN - COLUMBIA HEIGHTS WOMEN OF TODAY
Motion by Starcevic, seconded by Petkoff to allow tlaa ~.~omen of Today the use of
the kitchen on Sunday, November 3Otb from l:O0 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the fee being
waived. However, there will be a damage/clean up fee of $100 to be collected.
All ayes, motion carried. ~
RENTAL AGRI'I EMEN T
The Board agreed that all organizations and groups using the hall' should sign a
Lease Agreement with $0.00 ambunt shown as rental fee.
HIGH SCHOOL ALL NIGHT PARTY
The members agreed the Drop Ih Center and the Senior Citizen along with the Pre-
School room would not be available to the High School. They do request, however,
that the parents organization inform the members what each room would be used for.
In addition, although they do not require police security, if the parents feel
better with police on the property it wou~ld be up to them to schedule and pay for
them.~
NOVEMBER PARK BOARD MEETING
The November Park Board meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, 1986.
REPORTS ~
Several different items were discussed, amount th~m: 1) A fireplace screen will! be purchased.
2) City Council is request~iing the Management Plan for John P. Murzyn Halt be
sent to them foz review before being approved by the Park Board.
3) Motion by Patkoff, secolnded by Fowler to reduce the rental fee of meeting
rooms to 1/2 for meetings lasting 2 hours or less. All ayes, motion carried.

opinion of the Park Board that it will be for the good of the community. All ayes,
motion carried.
~ADI~G'POOLS
The State Electrical Inspector has informed the city that the wading pools are in
code violation and will have to be brought up to code ~efore they can be reopened
next~ summer.
