Rita Petkoff READ!NG OF THE MINUTES Motion by Starcevic, seconded by Folwer that the readin9 of the minutes from the February t2, 1986 meeting be dispensed with and accepted as written. Alt ayes, motion carried. PAYMENT OF THE BILLS Motion by'Fowler, seconded by Starcevic that the bills be paid out of the proper funds, All ayes~ motion carried. LETTERS AND REQUESTS REQUEST OS~:RANDER PARK BLDG/CLASS:OF '86 COL1JMBIA HGTS 'HIGh'-'SCHOOL Permission for the use of this bui!ding was previously given by the members by phone so it only .required fo.rrna1 action by members. Motion by Fowler~ seconded by Murzyn to all, ow the Columbia Heights All~Nite'Graduation Committee the use of the Ostrander Park Building for the purpose of conducting a fund raising rummage sale with the understanding that they will clean up the buitding and return it to its condition prior to their use of it. Further~ that the fee be waived. All ayes motion. ,sarried. REQUEST OSTRANDER PARK BLDG/C1NDY STEEVES Permission for the use of this building was also previously given by the members by phone so it only. required formal action by Board. Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Fowler to allow Mrs. Cindy Steeves the use of 0strander Warming House from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. on March 29, 1986 with the understanding taht she will clean up the buil~ding and return it to its condition prior to her use of it. Further, that the fee be waived. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS HOCKEY BACKER__S , A short discussion as to whether or not the Hockey Backers qualified for the organizational rate occurred. Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Fowler to allow the Columbia Heights Hockey Backers the use of Huset #2, #3~ #4~ and #5 at the organizational rate for July 19th and 20th. Alt ayes, motion carried. SCHOOLS Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Fowler to allow Immaculate Conception Church Schools the use of Huset Park fields #1, and #4 from 3:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. from Apmil thru May (weekdays only) with the stipulation that if the Columbia Heights Recreational League should have the fields scheduled following I.C.'s use of them that they will reline the fields. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST JEFFERSON PARK BUILDING GARAGE SALE/FRENCH CONNECTION Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Fowler to allow the French Connection Boosters the use of the Jefferson Street Building for a fund raiser on May 15, 16, and 17 with the understanding they clean up the building and return it to its condition prior to their use of it. Further that the fee be waived. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST HUSET PARK/HONEYWELL Motion by Fowler, seconded by Murzyn to grant permission to Honeywell, Inc. to hold their annual picnic either on June 3rd. or June 4th (depending on weather) from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Also, Huset #2 field will be. reserved for their use on those days with the following stipulation: .1) That they do not interfere with league play on any other ballfield 2) That they do o6tain permission from the City Council to have beer in the park 3) That they clean up after themselves. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST JEFFERSON PARK BUILDING/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS FIREFIGHTER'S AUXILIARY Motion by Murzyn, seconded by. Fowler to allow the Columbia Heights Firefighter's Auxiliary the use of the Jefferson Street Park Building for a garage sale on May ]st, 2nd, and 3rd with the understanding that they clean up the building and return it to its condition prior to their use of it. Further that the fee will be waived. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST SOFTBALL FIELDS PRESTEMON & KEYES PARK/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PUBLIC SCHOOLS Motion by Jernall, seconded by Starcevic to reserve the softball fields at Prestemon and Keyes Parks for the Columbia Heights Public Schools from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for the 1986 season. This motion is made with the stipulation that should the Columbia Heights Recreational League need the area they will have to make other arrangements. All ayes, motion' carried. JAMBOREE DAYS FOR 1987 A letter has been received from Richard J. Bierch, Columbia Heights Lions Club notifying the Park Office that the dates for the 1987 Jamboree are scheduled from June 24th thru Sunday, June 29th. MURZYN HALL/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS FIREFIGHTER'S AUXILIARY CRAFT SALE Motion by Jernali, seconded by Fowler to reserve the hall for the Columbia Heights Firefighters Auxiliary for their craft show on Sunday, November 16th, 1986. Their request was for 8 a.m. entrance, however, because of Park Board Policy, the earliest the halt will be available ~to them is t2:00 noon, The rental fee for this event will be waived. All ayes, motion carried. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS RENTAL POLICY The revised copy of the Rental Poticy is attached. Motion by Jernall, seconded by Fowler to accept the Policy as shown. All ayes, motion carried. INSPECTION REPORTS The Inspection Reports 10 thru 13 from Patch, Erickson, Madson, Watten, Inc. were reviewed ,and noted by the Board. RESIGNATION LETTER/ARNIE ALBRECHT A letter 'from Arnold Albrecht was received by the Board stating that he would not be returning to work when the hall is reopened. Mr. Salsbury stated that he hoped Arnie would reconsider his decision and return to the hall because he wit1 be sorely missed. ORDINANCE I18/PROHIB1T URINATING IN PUBLIC Information on new ordinance from Stuart Anderson, Chief of Police, was read and noted by 'the Board. REPORTS Bill Hollom requested we invite representatives from:the various civic organizations that reserve John P. Murzyn Hall to attend the May Park Board meeting and tour the hall. Hollom also discussed an idea he had regarding a fund raiser to furnish the hatl. This can also be discussed at the May meeting. Mr. Salsbury reported that the skating season statistics wit1 be available at the next meeting. At the March Park Board meeting Doug J6'nes from the Silver Lake Home Owners Assoc. had requested directional signs be put up at the Sitver Lake Boat Landing. Police Chief Anderson's response to,that request was discussed. He stated that the two counties of Anoka and Ramsey have the authority to regulate the surface of the lake, therefore, a sign the Park Department would put up could not be enforced by the police The Board requested a copy of the Chief's memo be sent to Mr. Doug Jones for his information. Jim Fowler reported that due to the resignation of Ron Laliberte, the Recreation Commission is lookin9 for a new member. &Od QUKbiMF.~T Motion by JeZrnall, seconded by Fowler to adjourn.
