READING OF THE MINUTES
Motion by Jerna]l, seconded by Fowler that the reading of the minutes from
the April 17, 1985 meeting be dispensed with and accepted as written. All
ayes, motion' carried.
PAYMENT OF THE BILLS
Motion by Fowler, seconded by Jernall that the bills be paid out of the proper
funds. Ail ayes, motion carried.
LETTERS AND REQUESTS
LIQUOR PERMITS
Motion by Jernalt, seconded by Starcevic that the liquor permits be granted
according to the rules and regulations set forth by the Park Board to the
following: Pat Byrne, 10632 Grouse Street N.W., Coon Rapids, MN; Robin
Cahow, 2115 Mississippi Circle, New Brighton~ MN; Kim Ashley, 8983 Van Buren
St., Blaine, MN; Diane Durand, 1621 6th Street, Mpls., MN. All ayes, motion
carried.
REQUEST HALL/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
Motion by Fowler, seconded!by Jernall to reserve the hall on Friday, December
27, 1985 for the Annual Hockey Social with the fee being waived. The security
fee wilt remain intact, however~ All ayes, motion carried.
THANK YOU NOTE FROM COLUMBIA HEIGHTS OLD TIMERS
The thank you note from the Columbia Heights Old Timers to the Park Board was
read and noted by the Board.
REQUEST PORCH/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS JAYCEE WOMEN
Motion by Jernall, seconded by Fowler to reserve the porch on May 21, 1985
for the Columbia Heights jaycee Women with the fee being waived. All ayes,
motion carried.

RESIGNATION OF JOZANNE JERNALL
Jo-Anne Jernall requested that she be relieved of her duties as a Park Board
member because of her busy schedule at the present time. Hollom expressed
appreciation from the Board for her dedicated services and thanked her. The
resignation will be effective July 1, 1985.
Hollom appointed James Fowler as the new representative of the Columbia
Heights Park .Board to the Recreation Commission. This fills the vacancy
created by the resignation of Jo-Anne Jernall.
REQUEST JPM HALL/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS HIGH SCHOOL ALL NITE PARTY
Motion by Jernall, seconded by Starcevic to grant the Columbia Heights Senior
Class the use of the hall for the all nite party on Thursday, May 30, 1985,
All fees will be waived. All ayes, motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
PARK PLANNER
Salsbury informed the Board Members that he has an interview with a Dennis
Smith for the position of Park Planner tomorrow. The North Dakota student
is a Columbia Heights resident and will be working jointly for the Recreation
Department and the Park Board.
MURZYN HALL STATUS
Salsbury stated that the architect is in the design stage at this time and
before the bids go out he would like another meeti'ng with the Board to review
the drawings and confirm the work, A meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June
4th and the place is to be selected at a later date. Hollom also requested that
'~the neighbors across from the hall be notified so they can attend the meeting.
Salsbury also informed the Board that the City is in the process of negotiating
with the owner of property located behind the hall in order to purchase a
certain portion to provide an exit out to 38th Avenue.
NEW BUSINESS
1986 BUDGET
It was suggested that each member indicate any item they would like to be
included in the 1986 Budget and return it at the June 4th meeting.
Salsbury stated we would send copies of the Capital Improvement Program
(with the additional items requested) before the June 4th meeting.
DISTANCE SIGNS/SULLIVAN PARK AND LABELLE PARK
Because of requests received in the Park Office the Board agreed to the
installation of distance signs on the pathways at Sullivan and LaBelle Park.

WADING POOL AND RESTROOM OPENINGS
Salsbury informed the members that the beach is scheduled to open June 1st.
Jernall req~sted that if the weather was warm enough the wading pools also
should be opened the 1st of June, however, it should be at Satsbury's
discretion.
REPORTS
Drainage system at Huset Park is in the budget this year. We are in the
process of getting bids on it. Expect it to be done by July 4th Celebration.
Handicapped access to buildings - According to law this is to be done by
duly ], however, it does appear as though they will go alon9 with an extended
date.
Summer Maintenance Program - This year we are going to try having certain
groups doing specific jobs in the parks.
Removal of floating bridge at LaBelle Park -, The ,condition of LaBelle pond is
deterioratin9 so the removal of the floatin9 bridge is most important.
RECREATION COMMISSION REPRESENTATIVE
Nothing to report
Starcevic requested that Salsbury look into the repair of a low spot along
side the walk at Prestemon :Park that seems to hold water.
