Ali ayes, motion carried, PAYMENT OF THE BILLS Motion by Jernall,seconded by FowleP that-the bills be paid out of the proper funds. REQUEST KFYES PARK/BLUEBERRY CO. ~ ROY BRANDT Mr. Brandt attended the meeting to explain to the Board ~'The Blueberry Company's Hot Air Balloon Extravaganza~ Motion by Petkoff~ seconded by Jernalt to make Keyes Park available to the Blueberry Co, on the basis that they are giving entertainment to the children, All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST SOFTBALL FIELD/COLUMBiA HEIGHTS JAYCEES Motion by Jernall, seconded by Starcevic to allow the Columbia Heights dayCees the use ol-' Gauvitte Softball Field on' Wednesday nights from 6 p,m, to 9 p.m, with the stipulation that the Recreation Department may preempt their use of it. All ayes, motion carried, REO. UEST HUSE'T #5 SOFTBALL FIELD/GIRL'S FASTPITCH SOFTBALL - STANLEY STACHEL Motion by Petkoff, seconded by Fowler to allow the use of Field #5 at Huset Park for a Girl's Fast Pitch Softball Team on Friday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 10:O0 p.m. from May 25th until the end of July, The motion is qualified by the stlipulation that should a tournament or the City Recreation League need the field, the team will make other arrangements, Al1 ayes, motion c~rried. CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PARK BOARD MINUTES MARCH20, 1985 PAGE 2 REQUEST SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT/LETTERMAN SPORTS-DAVE ANDERSON Motion by Jernall, seconded by Fowler to grant permission to Letterman Sports Softball Team to hold a tournament on July 27th and 28th using Huset #2, #3, #4, and #5. The permission is given with the under- standing that the. Park Board's regulations concerning tournament play will be strictly adhered to and the requirement that the team must be a member of the Columbia Heights Recreation League this year. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS HOCKEy BACKERS-DONALD HALLER Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Fowler to grant permission to the Columbia Heights Hockey Backers to sponsor a tournament on May lOth, llth, and 12th, at Huset #2, #3, #4, #5, Prestemon, and Keyes at the Organizational rate. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT/V.F.~I, POST #230 - ED SCHMEDA Motion by Fowler, seconded by Starcevic to allow the V.F.W. Post #230 to sponsor a tournament on June 15th and 16th at Huset #2, #3, #4, #5, and Keyes Park at the Organizational rate. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST JPM HALL/FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY-AILEEN STURDEVANT Motion by Petkoff, seconded by Murzyn to grant permission to the Friends of the Library to hold their Annual Salad Luncheon at John P. Murzyn Hall on Thursday, September 12~ 1985 from 8:00 a.m.'on with the fee being waived. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST HUSET PARK FOR PICNIC, HUSET #2 SOFTBALL FIELD/HONEYWELL, INC. ~ ROB BELVO Motion by Petkoff, seconded by Fowler to reserve Huset Park, Field #2 for Honeywell, Inc's Annual Picnic on Tuesday, June 4th or Wednesday, June 5th from 3:00 p.m, to 8:00 p.m. with the following restrictions: 1) That they do not interfere with league play on any other ballfield 2) That they clean up after themselves 3) That they obtain.permission from the City Council to have b6er in the park. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST HUSET PARK FIELDS/IMMACULATE CONCEPTION-M~ KE SCHt,iARTZ Motion by Jernalt, seconded by Starcevic to allow Immaculate Conception the use of 2 fields (Salsbury discretion which fields) at Huset Park and to be finished with play by 5 p.m. and that they line the fields following their use of it. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST JPM HALL/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS HOCKEY ASSOCIATION-MARGARET SAKA~IOTO Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Jernall to reserve the hall for the Columbia Heights Hockey Association Annual Style Show Dinner on Friday, November 8th. The fee will be waived but the security fee will reamin intact, All ayes, motion carried. CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PAP, K BOARD MINUTES ~A~C~ 2_0, 1985 PAGE 3 PRESTEMON PARK BALLFIELD Petkoff brought to the Board a concern she has with the policy of eliminating Tournament games from Prestemon Park. She asked the Board to reconsider their decision. After much discussion a motion was made by Murzyn, seconded by Petkoff to reverse their decision and allow tournaments at Prestemon. Ayes, Murzyn, Petkoff, Fowler, Nay, Jernall, Starcevic. Motion passed by majority. OLD BUSINIESS JOHN MURZYN HALL RENOVATION AND REMODELING With the ;~rrival of the Mayor, Council Members, City Manager and architect the J.P.M. project was discussed. Watten stated that mid June was planned for bidding, construction to begin in August with the 1st step.the demolition of the lower level,enclosure by November. Watten also stated he felt mid June of 86 was a realistic completion date. The architect was unable to give the members any idea just what can be done for the budgeted amount of money so another meeting was planned for April 3rd. Salsbury is to send a reminder letter and stipulate the location. PARK PLANNER It was reported that applications have been submitted for a Park Planner. NEW BUSINFSS Petkoff made a motion (Fred is to discuss with Mr, Bocwinski) to purchase a coffee pot for the employee's lunchroom. The motion was seconded by Jernatl. All ayes, motion carried. JPM FINANCIAL REPORT The Income Report was discussed and the members felt that the income was in an acceptable range. Salsbury reviewed the project cost/productivity program with the Park Board membe rs. RECREATION COMMISSION REPRESENTATIVE Nothing to report Salsbury informed the Board that a request from the Men's Club at Honeywell had been received requesting the use of the hall for a Mud Wrestling event, Motion by Jernall, seconded by Murzyn to deny the request, All ayes, motion carried. Because of a conflict in scheduling between two groups (M.C.C.L. Rummage Sale and Golden Agers) Salsbury requested guidance on which group would be moved from the iha11 if an agreement couldn't be worked out.
