Sa]sbury, Director Public Works/City Engineer Jori Starcevic, John Murzyn arrived 7:30 P.M. Bitch DeMars, Park/Street Superintendent READING OF THE MINUTEg Motion by Jerna]], seconded by Fowler that the reading of the minutes from the May ]6, ]984 meeting be dispensed with and accepted as written. All ayes, motion carried. PAYMENT OF THE RILLS Motion by Jerna]], seconded by Petkoff that the bills be paid out of the proper funds. All ayes, motion carried. LIQUOR PERMITS Motion by Fowler, seconded by dernall that the liquor permits be granted according to the rules and regulations set forth by the Park Board to: Charles A. Johnson, 5513 France Ave., North, Brooklyn Center, MN; Jane Gessell, 2lO-103rd Ave. N.W., Coon Rapids, MN.; Arnold Nyberg, 5350 Dupont Ave. N., Brooklyn Center, MN.; Mrs Wilton Prior, 5044 Vincent Ave. S., MN. All ayes, motion carried, Mpls. REQUEST FOR JPM HALL/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS HOCKEY ASSOC. Motion by Fowler, seconded by Jernatl to allow the Columbia Heights Hockey Association the use of the Hall on October 12, 1984 for the Annual Style Show/Dinner with the fee being waived. The security fee will reNailn intact. Alt ayes, motion carried. REQUEST FOR BASKETBALL GOAL AT KEYES PARK A letter from Mr & Mrs Karol was read requesting a basketball net, backboard and pole in the parking tot in Keyes Park. The pro's and con's of such a decision was discussed. A motion was made by Jernal] to table the request until after the park tour. The decision will be made at that time and a letter to that effect will be sent to the Karol's. REQUEST HUSET #3 SOFTBALL FIELD/NANCY STACHEL-COL. HGTS. FASTPITCH TEAM A letter requesting Huset #3 for June ]Sth, 29th, and July 13th was read. Motion by Jerna]], seconded by Fowler to allow the Girl's Fastpitch Team the use of the field. Ail ayes, motion carried. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PARK BOARD MEETING JUNE 2O, 1984 PAGE 2 REQUEST FOR HUSET #5 SOFTBALL FIELD/O'RILEY'S PUB AND LANES-JOE RENDLE Mr Rendle requested ballfield #5 at Huset Park for an exhibition game against radio station K.D.W.B. on July 22, 1984 from 1 PM to 6 PM. After some discussion regarding whether or not this should be considered a tournament request, a motion by Jernall to grant the request with the $50.00 field fee was made. Fowler seconded the motion. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST FOR SOFTBALL FIELD GAUVITTE PARK/MOORHEAD MACHINERY & BOILER CO. Motion by Jernall to deny the request for a softball game at Gauvitte Park on the grounds that the Company is not in the corporate limits. Seconded by Starcevic. All ayes, motion carrled- ~ REQUEST JPM HALL/LION'S ANNUAL SWEETHEART DINNER/DANCE -CURT LYONS Motion by Petkoff, seconded by Jernall to allow the Columbia Heights Lion's the use of the Hall on February 8, 1985 for their annual dinner/dance, with the fee being waived, however, the security fee will reamin intact. All ayes, motion carried. COMPLAINT ON DIRTY DISHES A letter from Mrs Bolin stating that the Catering service she had hired for the wedding reception on June 2, 1984 had to rewash the dishes because they were dirty. The Board stated that we should acknowledge the letter and tell Mrs Bolin we are sorry it happened and for any inconvenience it caused her. LAND O'LAKES MAIHTENANCE AGREEMENT FOR SULLIVAN PARK Salsbury informed the Board that he had talked to Mr Strectker from Land 0' Lakes regarding the condition of Sullivan Lake Park. Mr Strectker stated that he had hired a girl to mow, pull weeds, and etc. He assured Salsbury that they will take good care of the Park. LAND O'LAKES REQUEST FOR LIQUOR AT SULLIVAN PARK A letter requesting permission to bring liquor into Sullivan Lake Park on July 2~th for a. barbecue from 5:30 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. The Board reconfirmed their decision not to reserve parks but have them on a 1st come 1st serve basis. Liquor is not allowed in any Columbia Heights Park, however, the Board did approve the request for 3~2 beer. Motion by Petkoff, seconded by Fowler to allow Land 0'Lakes to bring non-int°xicating malt liuqor into Sullivan Park with the City Council approval. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST _SULLIVAN PARK/AID ASSOCIATION FOR LUTHERANS BRANCH 2244 A letter from Les Linngren requesting the use of Sullivan Park shelter, permission for keg beer, use of electricity, and permissi6n to erect a tent/awning. The use of electricity was granted, however, because of underground sprinkling system it will not be possible to erect a tent or awning. Motion by Jernall,seconded by Fowler to allow the use of keg beer in the park with the City Council approval. All ayes, motion carried. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PARK BOARD MEETING JUNE 20, 1984 PAGE 3 PINKERTON'S, INC./SECURITY JPM HALL Salsbury informed the Board that on two separate occasions a security man did not show up at a scheduled event at the Hall. A letter From Hr. Fridge was read with the assurance that it would not happen again. OLD BUSINESS ARCHITECTS JPM MURZYN HALL Sa]sbury stated Mr. Watten was not prepared to give us information with sketchs or cost figures at this meetin9. SOFTBALL POLICY The Board was not prepared to make any decisions regarding the softball policy so Murzyn made a motion to table any decision until the next meetin9. NEW BUSINESS PARK TOUR The Board decided on Tuesday, July lOth at 6 P.M. to tour the Parks. The budget will also be discussed later at the same meeting. Salsbury stated that he would try and have Mr. Warren at the meeting later in the evening. REPORTS DeMars informed the Board about some changes that were being made in the playground equipment in order to keep the theme in each Park, The change will be an additional $385.00 The hockey lights will be out of Wargo Park and moved to Mathaire on Tuesday. Electrical outlets are being considered at Sullivan Lake Park with the contract being put out for bids. The water problem at the band shell has not bee~fixed. A storm drain or French drain is being considered with an approximate cost of $13,000. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Starcevic, seconded by Jernall to adjourn. Att ayes, motion carried.
