Vern Watten, Charlie Reed, Vern Pi]aczynski Jon Starcevic READING OF THE MINUTES Motion by dernall, seconded.by Fowler that the reading of the minutes from the April 18, 1984 meeting be dispensed with and accepted as written All ayes, motion carried. · PAYMENT OF THE BILLS Hotion by Jernalt, seconded by Fowler that the bills be paid out of the proper funds. All ayes, motion carried. ' ' · REQUEST HUSET PARK/CITY EMPLOYEES PICNIC COMMITTEE A motion by Fowler, seconded by Petkoff to allow the City Employee's the use of Huset Park facilities on Sunday, August 5, 1984 for the Annual Picnic from ]2:00 noon Until 5:00 P.M.. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST PORCH JOHN P. MURZYN HALL/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS HOCKEY ASSOCIATION Motion by Jernall, seconded by Petkoff to allow the Columbia Heights Hockey Association the use of the porch on May 8th with the fee being waived All ayes, motion carried. · COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PARK BOARD MINUTES MAY 16, 1984 PAGE Il THANK YOU LETTER/COLUMBIA HEIGHTS OLD TIMERS. The thank you note from the Columbia Heights Old Timers was read and noted by the Board. REQUEST GAUV1TTE SOFTBALL FIELD/OUTDOORSMAN A letter from David G Barnard requesting a company softball game Sunday, May 20, 1984 at Gauvitte Park was read. The Council had previously approved the beer permit with the Park Board's approval. Motion by Jernall to deny the request died without a second. After discussion, Petkoff made a motion to allow the Outdoorsman the use of the Park, seconded by Fowler. Ayes, Petkoff Fowler. Nay, Jernall. The motion was carried by the majority. Hollom stated that we inform the group that if the Park Department has to clean the Park Monday morning that we will charge the group accordingly. REQUEST HUSET PARK 4TH JULY ~ Motion by Petkoff, seconded by Jernall to reserve Huset Park and all the facilities in addition to John P. Murzyn Hall for the Columbia Heights 4th of July Celebration. All ayes, motion carried. OLD BUSINESS REVIEW OF'SOFTBALL POLICY Salsbury gave each member a copy of the Softball Tournament Policy and a copy of the April 20, 1983 minutes regarding the use of McKenna Softball Field. Salsbury suggested that each member review the policy and we will discuss the Softball Policy at the June Park Board Meeting. Jernall stated that she noticed the new shades in the porch and "they look g rea t". NEW BUSINESS OSTRANDER HOCKEY RINK Salsbury stated that as Ostrander is used mostly for free skating and the hockey program attendance is way'down it might be a good time to close the hockey rink. After some discussion it was decided to continue the hockey rink for one more year, to check on the attendance, and then make a decision next year. MURZYN HALL MODIFICATION Mr. Vern Watten, Charlie Reed, and Vern Pilaczynski from the firm of Patch, Erickson, Madson, Watten, Inc. attended the meeting. Mr Watten gave each member of the Board a questionaire to complete. The Board decided to fill out the form individually and to get together at 6:30 P.M. on May 31st in the Public Works Building with a later meeting at 7:30 P.M. with the architects. Mr. Pilaczynski recommended that the existing system for heating the bldg. be removed and a modular hot water system be put in. He stated that if the budget did not allow for a new system we could keep the old one and put in a system the addition. He also stated that the air conditioning is in good shape, but it would deRend on the new addition and what we do in the.basement if the present system is adequate. The original steam boiler was put i'n in 1939 and does not provide for standby. Heights Electric was low bid for electrical works, however, the contract has not been signed until approval has been received for the lights. Saisbury informed the Board that there is a ~water problem around the Band Shell and the 9round is continually wet. Murzyn stated that there is a water line on top of the hi~l that runs to #4. Salsbury said that might be the problem and we will investigate further. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Jernall, seconded by Murzyn to adjorn. All ayes, motion carried.
