ThH purpose of the meeting was to discuss the problem of the ceiling
falling down in the main hall at John P. Murzyn Hall. There was a
lot of discus.sion concerning the type of ceiling, dohn Murzyn
wanted to leave the same tile and just repair it, Sa]sbury pointed
out that the tile itself had been soaked some 11 to 12 years ago,
and is presently deteriorated, He went on to present several
alternatives.
~. Leave it alone and just patch the problem (not very viable
since it is in such bad shape, and we run the risk of more
falling.
2. Put up sheetrock and a sound absorbing plaster ($3,000.00 est.)
3. Put in a lowered ceiling ($6,000 to $7,000 including electrical,
sheetrock to hold insulation and adjusting the six recessed
light and heat areas).
4. Replace the existing tile in a similar, but more secure and
maintenance free manner ($4,000 to $5,000).
It was further pointed out that there are several key considerations,
They are:
Sound absorbation
Ventilation
Time to accomplish the work between rentals,
After a little more discussion, the following action was taken:
Moved by Fowler, seconded by Starcevic to recommend replacing the
existing ceiling tile with another type of tile, and to include a
change in the perimeter lighting with the job. All ayes, motion
carried.
