MEETING

READING OF THE MINUTES
Motion by Petkoff, seconded by Starcevic that ~he reading of the minutes
from the September 211983 meeting be dispensed with and accepted as
written. All ayes, motion carried.
PAYMENT OF THE BILLS
Motion by Petkoff, seconded by Starcevic that the bills be paid out
of the proper funds. All ayes, motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
HILLTOP SKATING RINK
Salsbury stated that the cost to open Hilltop Rink would be approximately
$1800.00, Salsbury stated that we could open the rink all the way. A
discussion was held regarding the opening of the rink, A motion by
Starcevic was made to open the skating rink on a trial basis for this
year without the warming house. Seconded by Jernall. All ayes, motion
carried. Petkoff asked that the Park crew get an estimate of the amount
of kids using the rink.
PRESTEMON PARK SOFTBALL PARK ORIENTATION
Hollom asked if someone could sit down and approximate what it would cost
to move paths and resod. Motion by Murzyn that we do nothing with the
ball field at present. Seconded by Fowler. All ayes, motion carried.
Hollom suggested a letter should be written to Mr. Barnick telling him
that we are not plannina to rearrange anything, if he comes back at
that point of time we c~uld possible bring it. up again and do somethinq
about it. Salsbury suggested that it might best be left alone at this'
time and he would visit with Mr. Barnick if he brings it up again.
RESEEDING SULLIVAN LAKE PROPERTY
Salsbury talked to Mr. Strectker of Land o" Lakes and has decided not
to reseed at this time. Salsbury stated that he would like to indicate
to Mr. Strectker that next year we would like to have the area picked
clean of rock, reseeded as many times that it takes to get some aood
grass and that they put on what ever summer man power needed to ~aintain
the area. Murzyn stated that the park needs a lot of top soil.

Murzyn also made a suggestion that the Sullivan Lake Park sign on 53rd
be moved so people driving by could see the sign. Salsbury stated
that we did not need a motion regarding the reseeding of Sullivan as
long as everyone agreed with the proposal. They all indicated that
they agreed to try it.
STATEMENT REGARDING THE LOSS OF DISHES AT J.P.M.
A motion by Jernall, seconded by Starcevic that we table the discussion
regarding the loss of dishes and silverware until the next meeting
because not enough information was available to make a decision. All
ayes, motion carried.
BUDGET
Salsbury indicated that the City Council basically approved the budget
as submitted with one exception and that was the full time employee slot
that Gray filled. The money was eliminated including fringe benefits
and salary portion was added under seasonal employees.
Hollom stated that he had talked to Salsbury about getting started on
J.P. Murzyn Hall after the first of the year and to get going on the
specs, and whatever else needs to be done.
Letter from Friends of the Library was read aloud by Hollom.
LIOUOR PERMITS
Motion by Jarnall, seconded by Petkoff that the liquor permits be granted
according to the rules and regulations set forth by the Park Board to:
Paul Seiferth, 670 - 23rd Ave. N.W,. New Brighton, Donald Murzyn, 1730
W. Fairway Dr., Col. Hgts., Nancy Johnson/Troy Harris, 2070 Coon Rapids
Blvd., Coon Rapids, Corey Bauman, 1690 W. Highway 36, #126, Roseville.
Lynn DeVries, 4325 M~nnetonka Blvd., St. Louis Park. All ayes, motion
carried.
REQUEST FOR USE OF JPM HALL - STFVE HADTRATH MEMORIAL DINNER
Motion by Petkoff, seconded by Starcevic to allow the Steve Hadtrath
Scholarship Committee the use of J.P, Murzyn hall on Friday, December 2,
1983 for a dinner/dance with rental fees being waived. Security guard
fees will remain intact for this event. All ayes, motion carried.
PARK BOARD RFPRESENTATIVE TO RECREATION COMMISSION
Jernall had nothing to report.
DEPARTMENT REPORT
Salsbury had nothing to report. DeMars reported that 75 trees have been
planted by Fair's Garden Center, Inc. Also, 119 trees out of the City's
tree nursery have been planted on the Parks and blvd's in the City.
