READING OF THE .MINUTES
Motion by Melin, seconded by Fowler that the reading of the minutes
from the'January 28, 1982, meeting be dispensed with and accepted as
written. All ayes, motion carried.
PAYMENT OF THE BILLS
Motion by Melin, seconded by Petkoff that the bills be paid out of
the proper funds. All ayes, motion carried.
With representatives'present, the requests for perm.ission to hold softball
tournaments by three groups was now presented to the Board.
REQUEST FOR SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT - HEIGHTS DAIRY
Motion by Fowler, seconded by Melin to grant the Heights Dairy softball
team permi.ssion to hold a softball tournament on May 7, 8 & 9, 1982.
They will be charged the private rate. All ayes, motion carried.
REQUEST FOR SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT - DICK'S PLACE
Motion by Starcevic, seconded by Melin to grant Dick's Place softball
team permission to hold a softball tournament on May 22 & 23, 1982.
They will be charged the private rate. All'ayes, motion carried.
REQUEST FOR SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT - SOUR MASH
Motion by Fowter, seconded by Starcevic to grant the Sour Mash softbatl
team permission to hold a softball tournament on June 12 & 13, 1982.
They will be charged the private rate. All ayes, motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS
POLICY FOR BEER IN HUSET PARK
The present City Ordinance regarding alcoholic beverages in the parks
was distributed to Board members for their review, also a recommendation
from the Recreation Commission to ban all alcoholic'beverages in Huset
Park with the exception of Fr!days, Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays
was read to the Board. After discussion, motion was made by Melin,
seconded by Fowler to request the City Council to change the ordinance
regarding alcohol'ic beverages in City parks to read similar to that
submitted by the Recreation Commission. Rejzer also requested that'the
hours for liquor being permitted in the park (by special permit) be
changed back to 11:00 PM tn order to coincide with the hours for allowance
of vehicles in park parking lots. Technically, the words "Field House"
appearing in the ordinance should be changed to John P. Murzyn Hall.
All ayes, motion carried.

Motion by Murzyn, seconded.by Melin that the liquor permits be granted,
according to the rules and regulations set forth by th~ Park Board, to

REQUEST FOR USE OF JPM HALL - COMMUNITY WOMEN'S CLUB
Motion by MMrzyn, seconded by Melin to grant this group use of the hall
on the date requested, providing they agree to pay the proper fee. They
will be sent a letter informing them that the date is available, and
will be sent a listing Qf current fees for hall.usage on the weekend.
All ayes, motion carried.
REQUEST FOR HUSET PARK - MINNESOTA WHITE GERMAN SHEPHERD CLUB
Motion by Melin, seconded by Murzyn to deny this request for use of
Huset Park. All ayes, motion carried.

REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO CONSTRUCT "WATER BALL COURT'' IN HUSET PARK -
COLUMBIA HEIGHTS VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
John Berg of the Co]umbia Heights Volunteer Fire!Department was present
to explain the structure proposed by the group.' The proposal involves
constructing a ~court!~ on an asphalt area in Huset Park. This would
be a permanent structure consisting of two large':poles, embedded into
the asphalt, to which cable Will be attached and taken down at each
usage. Motion made by Starcevic, seconded by Me]in to accept their
proposal to erect a water ha'l] unit on the basis that this structure
wi]] be safe in all respects. The location of the unit will be
determined by Salsbury, Rejzer, and the representative of the Fire
Department. All ayes, motion carried.
REQUEST FOR USE OF dPM HALL - N.E. YMCA
Motion by Fowler, seconded by Melin to grant this group use of the
hall on the date requested for their basketball banquet with fees
being waived. All ayes, motion carried.
REPORTS
PARK SUPERINTENDENT'REPORT
1981Annuat Report is finished, each Board member supplied with a
copy in their packet. Rejzer called attention to the Financial Report
on JPM Hall.
Sa]sbury also noted that Wayne's Protection Agency now has a police radio
in their vehicle. ..
Rejzer stated that today (2/:17/82) is the last open day for the
warming houses.
