Members Absent: Mike Farrell Also Present: Nancy Greenwood, Childbirth Education Association; Fred Salsbury, Public Works Director. READING OF THE! MINUTES' Motion by Schelde, seconded by Logacz to accept the minutes as presented in writ- ing, and thet the reading be dispensed with. All ayes, motion carried. PAYMENT OF THE! BILLS Motion by Schelde, seconded by Melin to pay all the bills according to their proper funds; Ali ayes, motion carried. OLD BUSINESS WAYNE'S PROTECTION AGENCY A letter sent to Fred Salsbury from Stuart W. Anderson regarding working out some agreement between the Columbia Heights Police Department and Wayne's Protection for possible supervision of the park security officers by the Police Department. The Board decided to review the matter and to make a recommendation for the next meeting. NEW BUSINESS 1981 BUDGET Rejzer displayed to the Board the outline for the 1981 Budget. The items mostly discussed were those under Capital Outlay. The Board will again discuss these items at their next meeting. CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION ASSOCIATION Nancy Greenwood, of the Childbirth Education Association was present to request the use of J. P. Murzyn Hall from July 22 through September 23, Tuesday evenings, 7:00-9:30, or 7:30-10:00. Normally these classes, consisting of approximately 30 couples, have been meeting at the Senior High School, but because of the hot weather as of late, they would like to use an air conditioned facility until fall. The classes consist of exercises~ plus lectures. Motion by Me]in, seconded by Schelde, to grant use of J. P. Murzyn Hall for the dates requested. All ayes, motion carried. DISTRICT II CAMPFIRE Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Melin to deny use of J. P. Murzyn Hall facilities to the District 11 Campfire because of the conflict in scheduling at the times requested. All ayes, motion carried. LIQUOR PERMITS Motion by Melin, seconded by Murzyn to grant liquor permits to the following: Lester Larson, 4732 - 5th St. N.E., Columbia Heights; danice Marx, 5072 Clearview, Fridley; dames; Patterson, 7089 Carey Lane, Maple Grove; Jeff dohnson, 1400 - 18th Ave., N.E.; Thomas Fahrenho]z, 4009 Shamrock Dr. N.E.; Brenda Jurek, 4812 - 7th St. N.E.; Ali ayes, motion carried. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PARK BOARD MEETING (CONTINUED) JULY 16, 1980 Page 2 SUBURBAN WOMEN'S SOFTBALL LEAGUE Motion by Schelde, seconded by Melin to allow Suburban Women's Softball League a softball field at Huset on August 2, 2:00 and 4:00 P.M., and August 3, 2:00 P.M., in accordance with rules and regulations. Al1 ayes, motion carried. REQUEST FOR JPM HALL, VFW #230 Motion by Logacz, seconded by Murzyn to allow VFW #230 use of J.P. Murzyn Hall~ for their 50th Anniversary on March 7, 1981. A11 ayes, motion carried. REQUEST FOR ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE PERMIT SILVER LAKE BEACH Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Melin to deny use of alcoholic beverages to P~nne- koeken Huis employees' picnic at Silver Lake Beach. All ayes, motion carried. REQUEST FOR J. P. M. HALL-VFW #230, AUGUST 20, 1980 Motion by Logacz, seconded by Murzyn to allow use of the J. Po M. Hall for the banquet for the VFW Baseball Team on August 20, 1980, rental fee waived. All .ayes, motion carried. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS HOCKEY ASSOCIATION Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Melin to grant the Columbia Heights Hockey Assoc- iation use of J. P. Murzyn Hall for a rummage sale on September 16 and 17, rental fee waived. REQUEST FOR J. P. M. HALL FOR CHRISTENSON'FAMILY REUNION All of the dates requested--September 7, 21, or 28--are filled. A letter to be sent to Earle 0 Christenson, notifying him that the Hall is booked. HUSET TENNIS COURT LIGHTING Rejzer was instructed to receive informal quotations for the cost of changing the Huset Park Tennis Courts coin mechanisms to a push button type of mechanism. BLUEGRASS CONCERT Schelde asked if it would be possible to transfer funds in the amount of $221.00 to help Recreation Department for the rental of Satellites July 13. Logacz indicated this could not be handled in this manner. ADJOURN Motion by Schelde, seconded by Murzyn to adjourn. All ayes, motion carried.
