Members Present: William Hol]om, John Murzyn, JoAnn Me]in, Mike Farrell, Walter Logacz and Thomas Rejzer Members Absent: Gordon Schelde READING OF THE MINUTES Motion by Logacz, seconded by Murzyn to accept the minutes of January 23, ]980 as presented in writing and that the reading be dispensed with. All ayes, motion carried. PAYMENT OF THE BILLS Motion by Me]in, seconded by Murzyn to pay all the bills according to their proper funds. All ayes~ motion carried. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS HOCKEY ASSOCIATION REQUEST FOR TROPHY CASE Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Melin to get estimates for materials needed to make a trophy case in the main hall at John P. Murzyn Hall needed to hold trophies won by Columbia Heights Teams. All ayes, motion carried. PARK DEPARTMENT ANNUAL REPORT Rejzer handed out the Annua~ Reportito the Park Board for their reviewai. 1980 CALENDAR OF SCHEDULED EVENTS Rejzer presented the Board with a calendar of scheduled events-for the upcoming year. The purpose of this project is to give the Park Department a guideline to follow for their scheduled projects and to show how they have progressed during the year. LIQUOR PERMITS Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Me]in to grant liquor permits to the fo]lowing: Kathleen Russell, ]070 17th Ave. S.E. for July 18, 1980, Lee Ann Clemens, 4123 Arthur St. N.Eo on August 15, 1980 and Stephen Mozey, 1918 Brookview Dr. on October 12, ]980 pending proper liability insurance. All ayes, motion carried. PERSONAL DYNAMICS INSTITUTE Motion by Farrel!, seconded by Melin to have Rejzer write a letter to Mr. Demydowich, of the Personal Dynamics Institute, recommending him to speak to Mr. Doug Johnson, the Community Education Coordinator, about having his program submitted into our Community Education Program. All ayes, motion carried. CENTRAL JR. HIGH THANK YOU LETTER A letter from Central Jr. High thanking the Park Department for the maintenance of their hockey rink this winter was read and filed. WARMING HOUSES & SKATING RINKS Rejzer reported that due to the mild and wet weather we've been having the skating rinks will be closed as of February 21, 1980. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PARK BOARD MEETING, FEBRUARY 20, 1980 COMMUN.fTY .ACTION - ANOY~ COUNTY Pan Brennan, Expeditor for the Community Action Agency of Anoka County, was present to request use of the John P. Murzyn Hall for congregate dining for the Senior Cit- izens of Northeast Minneapolis. She explai, ned that John P. Murzyn Hall was an idea] location for many Seniors and the facilities were perfect. A motion was made by Farrell, seconded by Logacz to allow congregate dining to be held at John P. Murzyn Hall on a trial basis of one year with the stipulation that any presently sched- uled events or any civic event given a two-week notice will take precedence over the congregate dining date. The starting date, insurance, etc. are still subject to negotiation with the City Manager and City Council. All ayes, motion carried. COMMUNITY EDUCATION THANK YOU LETTER A letter from the Community Education Coordinator, Doug Johnson, thanking the Park Department for bringing tables up to Highland Elementary School for their Annual Community Services Fair was read and filed. WAYNE'S PROTECTION AGENCY The Board recommended Rejzer contact Wayne Fisher of Wayne's Protection Agency to have him present the Board with a letter requesting a raise in salary due to inflationary costs and equipment costs so that it can be submitted to the City Council for approval. CENTRAL JR. HIGH Motion by Melin, seconded by Murzyn to permit Central Junior High the use of McKenna Park field for Boys' 8th grade baseball practice from 3:15-5:15, April 15 to May 2l, 1980. All ayes. Motion carried. Rejzer is to also check for possible field scheduling conflicts at Keyes Park. Both Central Jr. High Boys' Baseball and Columbia Heights Senior High Girls' Softbal! are tentatively scheduled for Keyes. GRAMMA B's SOFTBALL TEAM Motion by Farrell, seconded by Murzyn to deny the request by Gramma B's Softball Team for use of Huset Fields for a softball tournament. Al1 ayes, motion carried.
