ROLL CALL Members Presetn: Tom Rejzer, John Murzyn, JoAnn Melin, William Hollom, Walter Logacz and Mike Farrell Members Absent: Gordon Schelde READING OF THE MINUTES Motion by Melin, seconded by Murzyn to accept the minutes of September 19, 1979 as presented in writing and that the reading be dispensed with. All ayes, motion carried. PAYMENT OF THE BILLS Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Logacz to pay all the bills according to their proper funds. All ayes, motion carried. JOHN P. MURZYN HALL RULES AND REGULATIONS Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Melin to have Rejzer compile all the rental information and have Ron Kalina, City Attorney, go over all the material before it is finalized. Also the Park Board is requested to make any suggestions they have and present it to Acting Park Superintendent, Rejzer at the next park board meeting. All ayes, motion carried. RECREATION PROPOSAL FOR HUSET #3 This discussion is to be tabled until the next park board meeting. HIRING OF NEW PARK MAINTENANCE PERSON Rejzer reported that Mark Yates was hired as the new park maintenance'person. He will be starting work on Tuesday October 23, 1979. The Board all agrees that he will be a good man to have as a regular employee. LIQUOR PERMITS Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Logacz to grant liquor permits to the following: Patti Stewart 3550 Virignnia Ave. No., Brenda Jurek 4812 7th St. N.E., Mary Malenick 2035 Innsbruck Pkway., Tim Wollak 3201 63rd Ave., Viola Blosberg 1811 26th Ave. N.E. pending proper liability insurance. All ayes, motion carried. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS JAYCEE WOMEN Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Melin to grant the use of John P. Murzyn Hall to the Columbia Heights Jaycee Women for their silly supper on October 23, 1979. All ayes, motion carried. COON RAPIDS SENIOR HIGH - GIRLS REGION 4AA TOURNAMENT Motion by Melin, seconded by Logacz to grant the use of Huset fields-on May 20, 22, 27 & 28, 1980 for the Girl's Region 4AA Tournament, with May 21, 23, 28 & 29, 1980 for alternate dates. All ayes, motion carried. MINNESOTA ROUND DANCE COUNCIL Motion by Melin, seconded by Logacz to grant the use of John P. ~Murzyn Hall for March 16, 1980 for "The Minnesota Round Dance Council" meeting pending proper fees. All ayes, motion carried. The fee will be $35.00/night. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PARK BOARD %££~ ![~G COAT. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS LIONS CLUB Motion by Melin, seconded by Farrell to grant the use of John P. Murzyn Hall to the Lions Club on December 3, 1979 for their annual Christmas Party. All ayes, motion carried. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS FIRE DEPARTMENT Motion by Logacz, seconded by MurZYn to grant the use of John P. Murzyn Hall on September 27, 1980 for their annual fall banquet. All ayes, motion carried. CUB SCOUT PAK 169 Motion by Farrell, seconded by Melin to grant the use of John P. Murzyn Hall to Cub Scout Pak 169 on all available requested dates for their pak meetings. All ayes, motion carried. The available dates are as follows: Oct. 25, Nov. 15, Jan. 24, Feb. 28, Mar. 27 and Apr. 24. GEORGE PULJU REQUESTS JOHN P. MURZYN HALL FOR A SQUARE DANCE WORKSHOP Motion by Melin, seconded by Murzyn to grant the user,of John P. Murzyn Hall to George Pulju for Square Dance Workshops on the available nights: Feb. 10, Apr. 13 and May 11, 1980 with a charge of $35.00/night. All ayes, motion carried. THANK YOU LETTER FROM ST. MATTHEWS CHURCH A very complimentary thank you letter from St. Matthews Church was read and filed. The Board recommends that Rejzer send cop~;es of the letter to the Mayor and City Manager. .REQUEST FOR HUSET #3 BY WOMEN'S INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS FOR REGION 6 CHAMPIONSHIP Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Melin to grant the use of Huset #3 and one additional field to the University!of Minnesota women's athletic department for the Region 6 softball championship on May 8 - 10, 1980. All ayes, motion carried. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS JAYCEES REQUEST FOR WORK PROJECTS Rejzer reported that he received a letter from the Columbia Heights Jaycees requesitng work projects they could do to enhance the City Parks. The Board all agreed that the Jaycees should~have the go ahead to do any projects that Rejzer can have them do. A letter has been sent to the Jaycees so that Rejzer and the Jaycees can get together and set projects up for them to do. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS GIRL SCOUTS Motion by Lgoacz, seconded by Farrell to grant the use of John P. Murzyn'Hall to the Columbia Heights Girl Scouts on Feb. 2, 1980 from 11:30 to 3:30 p.m. for their Father and Daughter Square Dance. All ayes, motion carried. COLUMBIA..HEIGHTS 4-H CLUB Motion by Farrell, seconded by MurZYn to grant the use of John P. Murzyn Hall to the Columbia Heights Hylander 4-H Club on the available dates: Jan. 7, Feb. 11, Mar. 3, Apr. 7, May 5, Sept. 8 and Oct. 6, 1980, all fees waived. All ayes, motion carried. PRESTEMON PARK BUILDING Rejzer reported that the building is almost completed the remaining things .to do are to connect the heating and connect the telephone which should be done in a few days. The building is going to be completed for the general election November 6th, polling will be held there. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PARK BOARD MEETING CONT. HUSET PARK HOCKEY RINK Rejzer reported that the moving of Huset hockey rink is coming along fine. It should be completed before this years skating season. The Board raised some question about the lighting because of the move, the ~board requested Rejzer to check into the lighting in more detail so if move lighting is needed that it would be ready for this skating season.
