ROLL CALL Members Present: Tom Rejzer, Acting Park Supt., John Murzyn~ Bill Hollom, Gordon Schelde, Walter Logacz, JoAnn Melin and ~ike Farrell Members Absent: none Also Present: Wayne Fisher READING OF_ THE F~NUTES Motion by Melin, seconded by Schelde that the minutes of May 16, 1979 be accepted as presented in writing and that the reading be dispensed with. All ayes, motion carried. PA~NT CF BILLS Motio~byFarrell, seconded by Melin to pay all the bills as presented in writing from their proper funds. All ayes, motion carried. SILVER~A~KEH~4EOWNERSASSOCIATION Motion by Farrell, seconded byMelin to have the Park Department find adequate funds to acquire a larger sign for the Silver Lake Boat Landing stating, No Swimming, No Alcoholic Beverages and Lake Traffic to be counterclockwise. All ayes, motion earriad. BIDS ON BLEACHERS FOR SOFTBALL FIELDS Motion by Schelde, seconded by Farrell to purchase four (4) #2176 Gametime galvanized steel angle frame bleachers with splinter free, "cool to the touch", anodized aluminum seats and footrests from Hamele & Associate's Inc. P.O. Box27329, Golden Valley, MN 55427, for the bid price of $2,530.88. ~kl ayes, motion carried. THOM_~S REJZER APPOINTED AS ACTING SUPT./CITY FORESTER Mr. Rejzer was appointed Acting Park Supt. and City Forester by City Manager Robert Bocwinski effective June %, 1979. LIQUOR PERMITS Motion byMurzyn, seconded by Melin to grant liquor permits to the following reservations pending proper liability insurance: Corrine A. Israelson, 3823 Ulysses St. N.E. on Friday October 19, 1979. All ayes, motion carried. V.F.W POST Motion byFarrel!, seconded byMurzyn to grant the use of Murzyn Hall to the V.F.W. Post 230 for their annual Christmas Party on Dec. 9, 1979. Ail ayes, motion carried. PEOPLES CHURCH Motion by Melin, seconded by Farrell to grant the use of the bandshell to the Peoples Church on July 21, 1979 for their Youth Rally. All ayes, motion carried. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PARK BOARD MINUTES CONT. COLUMBIA H~GHTS '.~PLOYEES Motion by Melin~, seconded by Murzyn to grant the use of Murzyn Hall to the City Employees for their annual Christmas party on December 21, 1979. All ayes, motion carried. JAYCEES Motion by Scheld% seconded by Murzyn to grant'the use of Murzyn Hall to the Columbia Heights Jaycees four consecutive Monday nights starting with July 2nd from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. fore,heir meetings° All ayes, motion carried° JOHN P. Rejzer stated that the building is progressing and that the roof structure is a~mst now completely enclosed. PROGRESS 0F~E~NW_~T FENCING AT PREST~.~ON BA!JFIELD Rejzer stated that the contractor has been in touch and is ready to proceed with const~ction of the permaneDt fencing. Heavy rains in recent ~sys has slowed up the initial start of the project° JAYCEE B~d~TEND~S The Board reco~aends that Rejzer talk to a Jaycee member requesting they give the Park Department cards stating the price and duties theywi!l perform as bartenders° YOUTH HIRED FOR The summer youth e~!oyees are: Daniel S. 0sterberg, Michael Jo Student, Steven W. Feyo~ Peter J. Eocur, Jim W. Dahl, Terry Chi, Donald Chi, John Eo Gable~ Scott R~ Rockstad, Patty Ao Reopelle and Ma~y L. Szaflarskio Rejzer reported that they are doing a good job. Schelde questioned the fact that no~one is stationed at LaBelle Park during the evening hours to deter bike riding and any other vandalism that occurs. Rejzer stated that although ~ disagreed he would get somebody wor_~ng at LaBelle during the evening as soon as possible. WAYNE PROTECTION AGENCY Motion byMetin~, seconded bySchelde to send letters to the different league managers stati~ that no drinking is allowed in the Parks, increase Wayne~s hours ~ntil the softball sesson ends and invest in larger more visable signs reading, No Drinkirg Allowed and place them in all the softball fields except Huset. AMETEUR RADIO STATION AT KEYES PARK Motion_.by Ho!!om, seconded by Melin in a telephone roll call to allow Anthony J. Becker and his associates to set up and operate a portable amateur radio station at Keyes Park from noon Saturday June 23rd until 6 P.M. Sunday June 24, 1979. All ayes, motion carried. USE OF BANDSHELL BY JAYCEES DU~XNG JAMBOREE Motion by Murzyn, seconded by Hollom in a telephone roll call to allow the Col~mbia Heights Jaycees the use of the Bandshell Friday June 1 5, 1979 to provide the citizens of Columbia Heights entertainment during the Jamboree. All ayes, motion carried. COON RAPIDS OFF THE 'ROAD RECREATION AREA At the Park Board meeting of-November 15, 1978, Gordon Schelde was appointed to be the ColEnbia Heights Park Board representative at the Anoka County Park Board meetings to discuss the Off the Road Recreation area in Coon Rapids. Motion by 'Melin, seconded by Farrell to recQmmend that the Columbia Heights Park Board agree with proposal of the Off the' Road Recreational Area.
