for the Park Board, replacing John Rakwhose term has expired April 18, 1979o

READING OF THE MINUTES
Motion by.Farrell, seconded by Schelde that the minutes of April t8~ 1979 be accepted
as presented in '~riting and that the reading be dispensedwith. All ayes, motion
carried.
PAYMENT OF BILLS
Motion byScheld% seconded by Melin to pay all bills as presented in ~iting from
their proper funds. All ayes~ motion carried.
~REQUEST FORUSE OF BANDSHELL
Mr. Steve Van ~llenwas present to request the use Of the Huset Park bandshell on
June 2, t979 fo~ the band 'Riffin' to play after a family dinner~ Motion by
Schelde, seconded by Farrell for the Park Board to authorize the use of the band-
shell to the band 'Riffin~ on J~ne 2, 1979 from 12 noon to late afternoon. A
deposit of $50.00 for clean-up is required and ~ll be refunded pending the
grounds are acoeptably clean to the Superintendent of ParksJ All ayes, motion
carried.
L~BE~J~_~E P~RK PL~QUE
Murzyn reported on the cost for the alteration of the LaBelle Park plaque. The
cost of the change would be from $t,00 to $1,100. The Park Board requested to
leave the pl~qu~ as is.
EASTSIDEYMCA ~EQU~T FOR ADDITIONAL FIELDS
Eastside ~CA requests the use of 2 more additional fields due to an increase in
the number of softball teams this season. Motion by Melin, seconded by Schelde
to inform Eastside ~CA that only2 fields will be granted as previously moved
at the April 18:1979 Park Board Meeting. All ayes, motion carried.
MCI~ENNA ~ND KEYES PARK TEN~S COURT
Murzyn reported that he received a bid from Marco Sandb'lasting Co. for $ 5,395~00
for the sandblasting of McKenna and Keyes Park, to remove coating off of the tennis
courts, with the ~ity to supply the cleanup ~,ith sweepers. The Park Board

recommended that Murzyn obtain another bid for sandblasting.
SILVER LAKE PROP~RTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION
Discussion was held on the letter from~the Silver Lake Propoerty Owners Association
in regards to the possible dangers at Silver Lsd~. Motion by Farrell, seconded by
Melin for a representative from the Pa~k Board to meet with a representative from the
Silver Lake Property Owners Association to discuss p2ans for regulating Silver Lake.
All ayes, motion carried.

REQUEST FOR SOFTBALL FIELD~ FOR HIGH SCHOOL 5A~
Fridley Athletic Director, Mike Wesly, requests the use of Huset Park fields for
the Regional 5~A Girls Fast Pitch Softball Tournament. Motion by Melin, seconded
by Logacz to grant the us~ of Huset Park field #3 on Tuesday and Wednesday, May
29 & 30, 1979, for the Regional 5AA Girl~ Fast Pitch Softball Tournament. All
ayes, motion carried.

PRESTEMON PARKBUILDING
Murzyn reported on the progress of Prestemon Park Building. The building is near
completion, although no one was working on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
ARBOR MONTH
Rejzer reported on the plans for~bor Month~ HoB. Fuller, the~Co!umbia Heights
Jaycees and Minneapolis ~ectrlc Steel Castings contributed a total of $2,000 for
tree pi~ntingo Seven (7) trees ~re p~chased and ~ll be planted in LaBelle Park.
Natural Green Inc. will plant the trees. An Arbor~Day Ceremony will be held at
1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18, t979 at LaBelle Park.
REDEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL FOR LEBELLE PARK
Discussion was held on the letter from Roger Jenson, P~ Director, in regards to
the do~nto~ redevelopment projeC% as it concerns LaBelle Psm~k. It was suggested
that the Park Board meet with M~. Jensen to further discuss project proposals.
PEOPLES CHL~CH REQU~T FOR YOUTH~-~R~I~Y AT P~SET PARK
Motion by Farretl, seconded by Schelde for the Park Board to grant the use of
the Huset Park bandshell to People's Church on Friday evenings, June 29 and
August 31, 1979, for the purpo_se of holding youth rallies° The requested date of
July 27, must be changed to the satisfaction of Park Superintendent. A deposit
of $ 50°00 is required for a clean-up fee° This ~ll be refunded~pending the
area is cleaned satisfactorily to the Park Superintendent. All ayes, motion
carried.
