ROLL CALL Members Present: JoAnn Melin, John Rak, William Hollom, Walter Logacz, John Murzyn, Tom Rejzer, Gordon Schelde, and Mike Farr~ell. Members Absent: none READING OF THE MINUTES Motion by Hollom, seconded byMelin, that the minutes of September 20, 1978, be accepted as presented in sriting and that the reading be dispensed with. All ayes, motion carried. PAYMENT OF THE BILLS Motion by Hollim, seconded by Melin, to pay all the bils as presented in writing from their proper funds. All ayes, motion carried. REVIEW OF THE DEDICATION OF LABELLE PARK Rejzer reported that thank you letters were sent to everyone who participated in the dedication ceremdny. The flag donated byMrs. Rozmark was stolen the morning of October 9, 1978, has not been returned. Murzyn put an article in the Sun Newspaper requesting any information on its where abouts. Plans for a new flag are being arranged. MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL APPROVE THE 1979 PJRY BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $318~985 Rejzer reported the budget was approved as submitted by the Park Board in budget hearings with the Council. ASPHALTING UNDER #5 BLEACHERS Rejzer reported that asphalting the area on the third hase side of #5 diamond, in the ~mount of $1,775.38, will make maintenance and clean up up much easier in the future. Plans for the asphalting of 1st base is scheduled for next year. FEE WAIVING CRITERIA Motion by Farrell, secondedby Melin, to table the discussion until the November 15, 1978, meeting and for Park Superintendent, John Murzyn, to draw up recommended criteria for the waiving of fees. At that time the Park Board will examine the criteria and their input will also be dis- cussed. All ayes, motion carried. APPROVAL OF ASPHALTING AT 0STRANDER, PRESTEMONAND SOUTHWEST COURTS Rejzer reported the council approved the asphalting for the above mentioned Parks. The contractor for the work is Bituminous Roadways in the amount of $4,765.00. The contract has been signed and the project will begin October 23rd and take one day for completion. LIQUOR PERMITS Motion byFarrell, seconded byMelin, to grant Liquor Permits to the follow- lng: Glenda Reeves; 4028 Ewing Ave. S., and Mr. Rod Steffenhagen; 3112 Boone Ave. No., and to provide the Park Board with proper Liability Insurance. JAYCEES WOMEN REQUEST HALL FOR A HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE Motion byMelin, segondedby Schelde, that the Park Board grant the use of the Field House to the Columbia Heights Jaycees Women on November 17 & 18~ COL~ZA HEIGHTS PARK BOARD MEETING CONT ~ D 1978 for a holiday boutique. All ayes, motion carried. COLUMBIAHEIGHTS INDEPENDENT REPUBLICANS A thank you letter from the Columbia Heights Independe~ Republicans in ref- erence to waivi~ a fee for the use of the 7ie!d House last March 1978 was read and filed. CUB SCOUT PACK Motion byFarre~l, seconded by Me!in, to grant the use of the Field House to Cub Scout Pack 169 on October 26 and November 30, t978 for their Cub Scout meetings. Al! ayes, motion carried, TOAST}~STER CLUB Motion by Melin, seconded by Sche!de, to grant the use of the Field House to the Toastmaster Club on every available Monday night from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Ail ayes, motion carried, COLU~IAKE!GHTS GIRL SCOUTS Motion by Farrell, seconded byMe!in, to grant the Girl Scouts the use of the Field House on ~rch 17: 1979~ for their annual Father & Daughter snowday. ~1! ayes, motion carried. St~TING RI~{S & WARMING HOUSE ATTENdaNTS Rejzer reported 'that the Park Board will put an ad in the Sun Newspaper the first week in November and have brochures made up and sent to the high school. The mini hockey rink will be eliminated at McKenna Park becuase of the newly laid sod. The skating rimk at Sullivan Lake Park will be eliminated becuase of the ~redging of the lakeo Logacz recommem_ded that a form be made up and signed by each skating rink attendant stating they understand every rule & regu!atioln explained ~b~ them at the time they are hired, this form will be kept on .file for their time of employment. MC~NNA SOFTBALL FIELD AT SOUTH~ND Rejzer reported that the McKenna baseball field ~s regraded and changed to a softball field. The field was regraded so that waterwillbe U~rected to- wards drain. 3,100 yards of sod ~s laid. PLANTING ALONG BE~M BY BURLINGTON iAT SOUTHWEST Rejzer reported that the plantingon the berm is almost!completed. The planting and purchasing of the trees and shrubs ~.~s performed by Burlington Northern. The Park Department is to ~intain the berm and to see that the trees and shrubs are watered. OUTDOOR ATHLETIC AND RECREATION FACILITIES SF~MINAR Rejzer presented the Board ~ith an outline of the different %hings~he did at the Seminar. The Board agrees.that the Seminar was a good way of getting new ideas and suggestions from different people. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Farretl, motion carried. seconded by Meiin, that the meeting be adjourned.
