MEETING
SEPTEMBER 20, 1978
Meeting Called to Order by Chairman John Rak.
ROLL CALL
Members Present: John Rak, John Murzyn, Gordon Schelde, Tom Rejzer,
William Hollom, Michael Farrell, and JoAnne Melin
Members Absent: Walter Logacz
READING OF THE MiNUTES
Motion by Hollom, seconded by Schelde, that the minutes of September 7, 1978,
be accepted as presented in writing and that the reading be dispensed with.
All ayes, motion carried.
PAYMENT 0FBILLS
Motion by Hotlom, seconded by Schelde, to pay all the bills as presented in
writing from their proper fuuds. All ayes, motion carried.
WAIVING OF LICENSE FEES
Motion by Farrell, seconded by Melin, to send the list of Civic and Service
Organizations, compiled by Murzyn, to the City Council. It is therecommen-
dation of the Board that this list be considered by the City Council when
organizations request their fe~s to be waived. All ayes, motion carried.
LABELLE PARK DEDICATION
Murzyn reported that the p~aque has been delayed and should arrive on September
25, 1978. Many ideas were discussed conderning the dedication. The Board
stated they would gi~e the staff complete co-operation in their efforts to
make the dedication a successful event.
OSTRANDER HOCKEY RINK & PRESTEMONAND SOUTHWEST BASKETBAT.T. COURTS
Murzyn reported on the various costs and the scheduled completion time for the
work being performed in the before m6ntionedparks. Informal quotations have
been received by George Brown, City Engineer, and action for approval by the
Mayor & City Council, before the final asphalting work can be done.
PROPOSED PRESTEMON BUILDING AND PRESTEMON BAEKETBALL COURT
Discussion was made on the breakdown of Leverette Weekes & Co., the Contractor
for the Prestemon Park Building. The starting date for construction on the
building is unknown as the constracts are still in the process of being signed.
LIQUOR PERMITS
Motion by Hollom, seconded by Farrell, to grant Liquor Permits to the
following: Nancy Borstrom, 5720 East River Rd. on June 3, 1979, Lynette
Bakken, 219-111th Ave. on Nov. 10, 1978, Violet Marihart, ~956 Jefferson
St. on Sept. 15, 1979, and William Mattson, 3839 Hart Blvd. on Nov. 24, 1979
and to provide the Park Board with proper Liability Insurance. All ayes,
motion carried.
REVIEW OF PROPOSED 1979 PARK BUDGET
The Park Board held %heir meeting with the City Co~uncil on September 1~, 1978,
concerning the 1979 Park Budget. All items and requests appear to be in order
as Murzynwas not required to attend the Budget review on September 20, 1978.

0STRANDERHOCKEY RINK
Murzyn reported that the work to ~epair the sunken part of the Ostrander
hockey rink is almost complete. The top asphalt layer has yet to be put
on pending the arrival of info~aal quotation. The rink will be ready for
the upcoming skating season.
