ROLL CALL Members Present John Rak, Micheal Farrell, William Hollom, JoAnn Melin, Sebe Heintz, Gordon Schelde, John Murzyn and Tom Rejzer. Me~oers Absent: None Also Present: Gary Peterson, Columbia Heights Boosters Association. R~EADING OF THE~NUTES Motion by Heintz, seconded by Farrell that the minu~es of October 26, 1977 be accepted as presented in writing and the reading be dispensed with. All ayes, motion carried. PAYMENT OF BIL~ Motion by Heintz, seconded byFarrell to pay all bills as presented in writi~ng from their proper fm~ds. All ayes, motion carried ........ -. LABELLE PARK P~gD Discussion was ]nade on the results of the action taken by the Mayor and City Council on the contract from Desco Company on the dredging of LaBelle Park Pond. Action was that the job of dredging be completed by May 31, 1978 or Desco Company would not receive payment. LABELLE PARK HO]KEY RINK ~ Discussion was made on the possibility of the installation of a hockey rink at LaBelle Park. Motion kZ Schelde, seconded by Farrell that the Park Board recommend that Murzyn construct a mite hockey rink for the 1978-1979 skating season. CONSTRUCTION OFEOUTHWEST PARK BUILDING Murzyn r&p°~ted that theconstruction of Southwest Park building is in progress and hopefully Will 'be completed by December 15, 1977. The Park Board members recommended that the building should be completed for the skating season. ORGANIZATIONS FOR WARMING HOUSEATTENDANTS Tom Rejzer reportedon the response of various Columbia Heights organizations for warming house attendants, there was no written response from any organization, but we did receive a verbal reply from Janice Shear, Columbia Heights Mrs. Jaycees, who will meet with Tom Rejzer on November 17, 1977 concerning hours and ~ates available for employment of warming house attendants. A suggestion was made by John Rak that Rejzer send similar letters to Columbia Heights church groups and also to write a news release to the Sun Newspaper for an ad regarding employment for warming house attendants. LETTERS-AND REQUESTS Motion by Heintz, seconded by Hollom to grant the V.F.W. 230 the use of the Field House on November 30, 1977 flor abaseball banquet. All ayes,.motion carried. Thank you letter from Columbia Heights Central Jr. High School, Assistant Principal, Barbra Zahrajsck was read and filed. Motion by Heintz, seconded by Farrell to grant the Columbia Heights Girl Scouts the use of the Field House for theirannual Father and Daughter Snow Day on Saturday, March 4, 1978 from t2:00 p.m. to3:30 p.m. All ayes, hbtion carried. COLUMB.T.A HEIGHTS ~ARK BOARD MINUTES FOR NOVEMBER 16, q977 CONT. LETTERS AND ~ Motion by Hollom, seconded by Schelde to grant Immaculate Conception Church the use of Jefferson building for their annual Thanksgiving Clothing Drive during the week of November 20, 1977, this is granted with all fees waived. All ayes, motion carried. Mr. Gary Peterson, Columbia Heights Boosters Association, was present to request a warming house for the Columbia Heights Senior High School hockey team to replace the one that was previously burned. Motion by Schelde, seconded byHeidtz to move the LaBelle Park building to the Senior High School and to put the deed in written form letter. All ayes, motion carried. LIQUOR PERMITS Motion by Farrell, seconded by Hollom that the Park Board grant the applications for liquor for the following reservations pending ~roper insurance: Muriel Resch 3801 Buchanan Street N.E. on July 22, 1975; Lawrence R. Audette 136$Ward Lake Drive on May 19, 1978 and Leslie Paper Company on November 16, 1977. All ayes, motion carried. GAUVITTE PARK BEMM Motion by Heintz, seconded by Schelde that the Gauvitte Park berm, with additional shrubbery to be place as originally designed, is sufficient to the request by Mr. Schroedel. Ail ayes, motion carried. TOMREJZER~S SIX MONTH PROBATION PERIOD Murzyn reported his recommendation on Tom Rejzer, that he performed his Job satisfactorily and has a promising future. A recommendation was made that the Park Board approve a six month probation rate increase on $179.00 per month. Motion by Farrell, seconded by Hollom that the Park Board concur with the certification and evaluation of Mr. Tom Rejzer that was presented~byMr. Stu Anderson to the Mayor and City Council. All ayes, motion carried. PROPOSED PRESTEMONP~RX BUTLDING Discussion was held on the cost of Prestemon Park building. Motion by Schelde, seconded by Farrell for Murzyn to bring recommendations to the Park Board on the use and expansion of Prestemon Park at the January Park Board meeting. All~ayes, motion carried. ..MATTING AT SOUTHWEST PARK BUTLDING The low bid of Jiffy Jr. Products in the amount of $895.00 formatting for Southwest Park building was approved by the Mayor and City Council. SULLIVAN LAKEP~J~M Tom Rejzer presented a rough draft on park developments~or Sullivan Lake Park. SIDEWALK ALONG JEFFE~_~-SON~STR.EETANDHUSET PARK Discussion was held on who authorized the blacktop sidewalk on the west side of Jefferson Street along Huset Park. It was suggested for Murzyn to check into any recommendations made by the Park Board concerning sidewalking. RENAMING OF SD~TVAN L~EEPARK Discussion Mas held on the request from Columbia Heights citizens to rename S~livan Lake Park to Ramsde~ Park. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PARK BOARD MINUTES FOR NOVEM~IER 16, 1977 CONT. LABELLE PARK ART ~;TRUCTURE Discussion was held on the dedication of the LaBe!le Park art structure and also the possibility of the dedication of trees in the park. COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAM Mike Farrell requested to resign from his position ~ the Community Education Program. Motion by Farrell, seconded by Schelde to recommend to appoint JoAnn Melin to the Community Education Program. All ayes, motion carried. RECREATIONAL P~ARKUSAGE Request was made ~br the RecreationlDepartment to present the Park Board with a projected 5 year park usage plan. ADJO~T Motion by Farrell, seconded by Hollom to adjourn.
