ROAL CALL Members Present: Members Absent: Also Present: John Rak, William Hollom, JoAnn ¥~lin~ John Murzyn and Tom Rejzer .... Micheal Farrell Robert Diedrich Sebe Heintz, Gordon Schelde, SOUTHWEST PARK BUILDING This meeting was called to determine ways of lowering the cost of Southwest park building to $35,000. Mr. Robert Diedrich was here to review with the Board and mentioned~r~o items could possibly be reduced such as the change of skylights and the reduction of the cost of masonry work. .If these items cannot change the reduction of the cost of the building then Spectra-Glazed blocks can be changed to ordinary blocks a~paintedwith epoxy and also drop the painting to'be done by city employees. The Park Board requested the planner, Mr. Robert Diedrich, to present the changes by the contractor at the nex~meeting on July 20, 1977. LABELLE PARK The Board discussed on having a memorian to Jimmy LaBelle, Medal of Honor, placed in LaBelle Park witlh accitation plaque. The members als~ mentioned that a recognition be made to the high school student who dgsigned the LaBelle Park art structure. MINI PARK A letter from the Columbia Heights Chamber of Commerce was read, requesting that Mini Park be changed 'to Wargo Court in ~recognition of Judge Wargo's contributions to Columbia Heights. Motion by Schelde, seconded by Hollom %o table the renaming of Mini ~ark. All ayes motion carried. '~ PLANTING OF TREE,S The Park Board stated that Shey appreciate~_ the efforts of the Columbia Heights Chamber of Commerce of planting trees in Mini Park, but it was requested that the Chamber of Commerce let the Park Superintendent know what is beingdone. LETTERS ANDREQ~STS Letter from Midw.~st Federal to purchase 10 feet of Columbia Heights park property at LaBelle Park. Motion by Heintz, segonded by ~chelde to table this request until the July 20, 1977 meeting. All ayes~otion carried. Request from CoDmmbia Heights K-Mart to use the lights for a make-up game. Motion by Hollom, seconded by Schelde to charge K~Mart $25.00, $10. O0 for electricity and $15.00 for labo~ for th~ Sunday night game. All ayes motion carried. Discussion was m~de on the claim filed to the Balluff Roofing Co. on if the Park Board ~hould settle for $602.00 ~r to file sue against them. 'Motion by Schelde~ seconded by Heintz~to table discussionuuntil the July 20, 1977 meeting. All ayes motion carried. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PARK BOARD SPECIAL MEETING CONT. JULY 6, 1977 BE~R IN PARES Park Board request that LindaHansen of the Recreation Department send out memo~ totthe ball teams to use cans instead of glass bottles for beverages because of hazardous breakage and that if that doesn't work that the Park Board will ask that glass containers be outlawed. GAUVITTE PARK Murzyn presented the p~an showing a berm that could be constructed on the north side of Gauvitte parking lot preventing automobile lights from shining into the residents house north of the lot. Motion by Melin, seconded by Hollom that the Park Board construct a berm and move the light tower as presented in the plans. All ayes motion carried.
