John Rak, William Hollom, Mike Farrell, Gordon Schelde, JoA~n Melin Members Absent: None. READING OF THEMINUTES Motion by Melin, seconded by Heintz to approve the minutes of February 16, 1977 as presented in writing and that the reading be dispensed with. All ayes motion carried. PAYMENT OF BILLS Motion by Heintz, seconded by Melin to pay all bills as presented in writing from their proper funds. All ayes motionccarried. LABELLE PARK ART STRUCTURE The LaBelle Park ~rt structure presented byJohn Lange at a previous meeting on Marhh 11, 1977 attended by Heintz, Rak and Murzyn, was presented to the Park Board. The Board decided to remain with the original decision of using the structure made by a Columbia Heights Senior HightStudent. TENNIS COURT LIGHTING Motion by Melin, seconded by Heintz to write a latter to Malcolm Natson along with a copy to Dr. Ostendorf, to ~ecommend to Electric Service Co. that the tennis court lighting be completed by April 1, 1977 at the Columbia Heights Senior H~ and by May 1, 1977 at Huset Park. All ayes motion carried. ENGINEERING REPORT Motion by Schelde, seconded by Me~in to approve the black topping schedule submitted by the Engineering Department, with the exception of the Silver Lake Beach parking lot. It was suggested to recommend to the City Council, by Sebe Heintz, to consider repairing the parking lot at Silver Lake Beach which was torn up during sewer construction and to take it out of the PIE fund. All ayes motion carried. The following are the results of the inspection survey of the bituminous surfaces in our parks. Informal quotation bids have been sent out for plumbing and electrical work. VANI~LiSM - Motion by Farrell, seconded by Heintz that a police officer be on high intensity coverage of LaBelle Park for one week and that an audit be taken before and a~r the week to check for property damage. All ayes motion carried. Motion by Heintz, seconded by Farrell that 2 more lights, the south end, be added byN.S.P, to illuminate the area. Motion by Heintz, seconded by Farrell that the Park Bo~d approSe the use of the Huset fields 3, ~ and 5 to Tasty Pizza for a softball tournament on April ~0 and May 1, 1977 requiring $50.00 for each field and a $50.00 deposit for clean-up of the fields and area and that it be refunded pending the grounds are acceptable by the Park Superintendent. If Tasty Pizza wishes to sell beer at the tournament, they must apply for a beer license fro~ the City Council and provide the Park Board with Rroper liability insurance. All ayes motion carried. Motion by Heintz, seconded by Melin that the Eark Board approve the use of the Field House to the Columbia Heights Firemen's Auxiliary for their annual Christmas Party on December 4, 1977 from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm.m ALl ayes motion carried. Motion by Melin, seconded by Farrel! that the Park Board grant the use of the Field House to the Columbia Heights Senior High School~n June 2, 1977 for the Senior All Night Party. All ayes motion carried. Motion by Hollom, secondedbyFarrell that the Park Board grant the use of the Field House to the Columbia Heights Cub Scout Pack #169 for their Annual Pinewood Derby on April 5, 1977 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. All ayes motion carried. Motion by Schelde, seconded byHeintz to grant the use of the Field House to Camp~ire Troop #113 on April 14, 1977. All ayes motion carried. Thank you letter from the Anoka CoUnty Health Department for the use of the Field House for the Well Baby Clinic was.read and filed. Motion byHeintz, seconded by Holtom to grantT%he use of the Field House to Mr. David Gerhrke, Head Hockey Coach Columbia Heights Senior High, on March 247 1977 for their Player-Parent Dinner. All ayes motion carried. Motion by Schelde, seconded by Heintz that the Park Board approve the use of the fields 2, 3, 4 a~d 5, and also the Jefferson Building to the Mrs. Jaycees for a softball tournament on June 4 and 5, 1977. All ayes motion carried° Motion by Heintz, seconded by Farre!! that the request by the Golden Eagles Soccer Club for the use .of soccer fields be tabled for lack of sufficient information. Motion by Farretl, seconded by Melin to grant t~e use of the Field House to the Mrs. Jaycees for a "Bunny Brunch" on March 26, 1977. Ail ayes motion carried. TREES Discussion was he[~d on diseased trees and the lack of manpower to deal with the t~ees and parks. It wa:~ suggested that personnel should be hired for tree removals and not to use all of our good personnel for the Shade Tree Program. PICNIC TABLES Murzyn reported tlmt the metal-concrete type picnic tables were constructed and are being painted. I~ormal quotations will be sent out for Portable picnic tables. PARK FLAG Mr. Mike Farre!l reported that he talked to Mr. Leonard Keyes Jr. and he said that they ~!1 donate a flag for Mini Park which covered Judge Keyes Casket. ASSISTANT PARK SUPERINTEND~T ~. Mike Farrel! reported that he looked over 20 applications for the position of Assistant Park Superintendent and said that about 8 resumes met our criteria.
