MINUTES
JANUARY 19, 1977
Meeting called to order by William Hollom.

READING OF THE~NUTES
Motion by Farrell, and seconded by Heintz to approve the minutes of December t6, 1976
as presented in writing and that the reading be dispensed with. Ail ayes motion carried.
PAYMENT OF BILLS
Motion by Schelde~ seconded by Farrell to pay all bills as presented in writing from
their proper fum.~.ds. Ail ayes motion carried.
ASSISTANT PARE SUPERINTENDENT
Motion by Farrell~ seconded by Heintz that the Park Board recommend to the City Council
that they adopt the job description for the Assistant Park Shperintendent as presented
and also advertise for the position and recommend to the City Council a starting salary
of $9000. to $11,000. All ayes motion carried.
Mike Farretl will be Park Board r~presentative to assist in the interviewing for an
Assistant Park Superintendent.
PRESTEMON PARK
Mr. Ron Abrahamson of the Prestemon Park area told the Board members that their priority
for the Park was the play lot for the youngsters and togo-ahead ~rlth the other developments
for the park. Tihe Prestemon Park area people are not intrested in the purchasing of
bleachers for the softball field.
LABELLE PARK
The letter of agreement between Malcolm Watson and Mr. Wolverton was read and discussed.
The Board was happy to see that the City Manager negotiated with Mr. Wolverton and
made a settlement of the fee for the contract for LaBelle Park.
0RGA/~IZATIONAL C~Q~RT
Motion by Schelde, seconded by Farrell that the Park Board request from the City Manager
the following:
1. The Park Board would like to see the present organizational
cha~t used bythe City Manager.
2. Who gives directions to the Park Board employees at all times
and are there any exceptions.
All ayes motion carried.
FLOODLIGHTS
Murzynreported that the floodlight at LaBelle Park on the east side bank is doing a good
job and that later in the spring when the foliage is out, that we will experiment with
a few more along the embankment.
LETTERS AND REQB!:STS
Motion by Schelde, seconded by Farrelt that Murzyn send Mrs. Gall Hoffman a letter
explaining the reasons for closing the Sullivan Lake Skating Rink. All ayes motion carried.

LETTERS AND REQUESTS CONT.
Motion by Schelde, seconded by Farrell that the Park Board write M~. Allan E. Rivard,.
from the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Department, saying that at this time our programs
and facilities are closed to residents outside of Columbia Heights and when we do open up
the facilities to outside communities, we will contact him for such an exchange.
All ayes motion carried.
Motion by Schelde, seconded by Heintz that the Park Board grant the Hockey Association
the use of the Field House on February,, 1977 from 6 PM to 1 AM for thiner Association
Social, and that if liquor is served they must have proper dram shop insurance~and must
pay for the policeman. All ayes motion carried.
LIQUOR PERMITS
Motion by Heintz, seconded by Farrell that the Park Boar~ grant the applications for liquor
for the following reservations pending proper insurance: Rick Wolfe 1265 Hathaway Lane on
October 8, 1977; Kenneth Falldin 269 Rice Creek Blvd. on July 2, 1977; Brad Henrichs 5705 Quebec
Avenue North on July 30, 1977 and Diane Nelson 3200 Diamond 8 Terrance on February 12, 1977.
All ayes motion carried.
KITCHEN A~DBAREQUIPMENT
Murzyn presented a list of aquipment which is necessary to improve the Field House's
'kitchen and bar facilities, this was discussed and reviewed. The Board felt that this
equipment~ould be quite an asset for the future activities in the Field House.
VANDALISM,~EPORT FOR 1976
Discussion was held dn the 1976 Vandalism Report. The Board requested to make a
g~aph chart to determine where the heaviest penetration of vandalism is being done.
SUMMARY OF RECEIPTS
A summam~.of the receipts for the year 1976 was reviewed.
Motion by Heintz, seconded by Schelde to adjourn. All ayes motion carried.
