MINUTES
NOVEMBER 17, 1976
Meeting called to order by Chairman John Rak.
ROLL CALL
Members Present:
John Murzyn.
Members Absent:
William Hollom, John Rak, Gordon Schelde, MicHeal Farrell, and
JoAnn Melin add Sebe Heintz.
READING OF THE MINUTES
Motion by Hollom, seconded by Farrell to approve the minutes of the special meeting of
November 3, 1976 as presented in writing and that the reading be dispensed with. All
ayes motion carried.
PAYMENT OF BILLS
Motion by Hollom, seconded by Farrell to pay all bills as presented in writing, from their
proper funds. All ayes motion carried.
POLICIES FOR PATROLLING OF PARKS
W~illiam Hollom stated that a meeting with Mr. Wayne Fischer from Waynes Protection ~ency,
the Chief of Police, Mayor Bruce Nawrocki, the City Attorney Mr. Nick Casper, ~illiam
Hollom and JoAnn Melin be held at the Pannekoeken Huis on November 18, 1976 at 5:30 PM
todiscuss the patrolling of parks. He also mentioned three items that should be
brought up at this meeting such as the deputizing of Wayne Fischer and also the possibility
of presenting him with a scanner and a walkie talkie.
LETTERS AND REQUESTS
Motion by Farrell, seconded by Hollom that the Park Board grant permission to the _
Columbia Heights Girl Scouts the use of the Field House on March 19, 1977 for
their annual Father and Daughter Snow Day with the fee being waived. All ayes mgtion
carried.
Letter from Mr. Dean Otterson was reviewed and discussed. Murzyn reported that.the
request for plans and costs were taken from Wolv~rton Engineering. ~
Motion by~arrell, seconded by Hollom to grant ~he use of the Jefferson Street
Building to Immaculate Conception Church from November 20 through November 27,
for a clothing drive. All ayes motion carried.

LIQUOR PERMITS
Motion'~.by Hollom, seconded by Farrelll~that the Park Board grant the applications for
liquor for the following reservations pending proper insurance: Lenora Drowns 707
Jefferson St. N.E. on ~ovember 5, 1977; S~aron Walter 2930 101st Ave. N.E. 6n~ebruary
5, 1977; Betty Volkman525 Mill Street N.E-Y on June %, 1977; Lynn Johnson 2228 Ulysses
St. N.E. on July 16 1977; Robert Bayard 7133 Jersey Avenue North on August 13, 1977;
Patricia Pendleton 3019 31 st Avenue N.E..on June 2%, 1977; Willard Hayes on July 23,
1977; MargarS~ Bird 3905 Californi~ St. N.E. on December %, 1976 and Maxine Nolby on
December 11, 1976. All ayes motion carried.
SALARY FOR WARMING HOUSE ATTENDENTS
Motion by Farrell, seconded by Schelde that salaries for the warming house attendants
and supervisor remain the same as in the 1975-1976 season. All ayes motion carried.
GAUVITTE HOCKEY RINK
A primer coat of paint is being applied on the hockey rink boards at Gauvitte Park.
The second coat will be applied next year. The fencing for one side has been ordered.

WOLVERTON CONTRACT FOR LABELLE PARE
Discussion of the Wolverton Engineering contract was held. More information needs to
be had on this topic. Motion by Schelde, seconded by Me!in that we table this subject
until the next meeting. Ail ayes motion carried.
BUILDING FORHIGH SCHOOL WARMING HOUSE
Mr. Gary Peterson came to discuss moving a warming house building from either Eeyes
Park or LaBelle to the Columbia Heights High School~for their hockey rink° Motion by
Schelde~ seconded by Hollom that the Park Board move the warming house to the high
~school hockey risc site and that the School Board be responsible for heating, lighting
and insurance. ~L1 ayes motion carried.
SOUTHMEST TENNIS COURT
Alternate plans to changing and/or moving tennis courts at Southwest were discussed.
Motion by Farrell:, seconded by Scheide to table the discussion until the budget is set.
Ail ays motion carried.
SILVER LAKE SCHOOL
Discussion of using Silver Lake School property for a Y.M.C.A.
This study is to be continued and investigated.
