Members Absent: Michael Farrell and Sebe Heintz. READING OF THE'. MINUTES Motion by Hot, om, seconded by Melin to approve the minutes of July 21, 1976 as presented in writing and. the reading of the minutes be dispensed ~th. All ayes motion carried° PAYMENT OF THE BILLS Motion by Schelde, seconded byMelin to pay all bills from their proper~.fundso motion carried.. All ayes REQUEST FORFIELDS Motion by Hollom, seconded by Melin that the Park Board allow the use of the fields to Mr. Ernie Nelson for a softballtournament on August 27, 28 & 29, requiring a $50.00 deposit for clean-up o~f the fields and that it be returned if the grounds are acceptable by' the Superintendent of Parks. All ayes motion carried. FIELD HOUSE LIQUOR Motion by Hollom, seconded by Melin that the Park Board amend the liquor rules governing the Field House as follows: 1. Regulation I, B. 6, should be changed to read, "Applicant shall file a policy or photo- copy of a policy of insurance indicating that applicant has Host Liability coverage in the amount of a least $100,000.00 per occurence which should be in effect on the date(s) the field house is to rented. 2. On the reservation form, the words "~TH LIQUOR CONSUMPTION PRIVILEGES" should be deleted and replaced with the simple question, "Will liquor 'be consumed?" 3. An additional regulation should be added that "The only person to furnish liquor on the premises is the applicant who shall also be the person filing the policy of insurance. All ayes motion carried° LIQUOR PERMITS Motion by HolDom, seconded by Schelde that the Park Board accept applications of Mrs. Matt Luberda 812 50~ Avenue N.E., Greg Pasiowitz 265~ Scotland Court, Earl Gangler 3722 Van Buren Street N.E., and Nancy Haines 5548 Morgan Avenue North, pro%tided that they have the proper insurance requirements. All ayes motion carried. REQUESTS Motion by Me!in~ seconded by Ho!lom, that the Park Board grant the use of the Field House to the Anoka County Extension Service on October 5, 12, 19 and 26 and also on November 2 for a course on educational series titles" A Place %o Live: Bu~ing A~ Older Home This Fall." All ayes motion carried. BIDS ON LIGHTING OF HUSET AND HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS COURTS Murzyn reported that the opening of the bids was canceled because of corrections that had to be made, so the bids will be reopened next Monday, August 23 at 2:00. The Park Board will meet next Monday at 6:30 to give their recommendations to the City Council. ST. TIMOTHY Murzyn reported that he only found the deeds from the purchase of St. Timothy property. He will continue to look for letter~ or memorandum in reference to the conditions of the land sale, ~hichwas to be used for park pt~oses. SURVEYS The Park and Recreation Department sent out 192 Prestemon Park surveys and only 12 came back. This survey was to determine if the Prestemon area people wanted ~ new building and what kind of recreation activities were needed. It was hard to determine any substantial conclusions ~om such a small return of surveys. LUMBER FOR GAUVITTE PARK HOCKEY RINK Murzyn sent out informal quotation bids for lumber for Gauvitte Hockey Rink. The low bidder was Lampert Building Center with a low bid of $1,052.05. This was approved by the City Council. PIPES FOR GAU~ITTE PARK HOCKEY RINK Informal quotations for pipes for Gauvitte Hockey Rink were sent out and Viking Fence Company was the low bidder at $631.50. This was approved by the City Council. LIONS CLUB The Park Board met with 2 representatives from the Lions Club, Mr. Robert King and Mr. Wallace Murray, and discussed the contract with Stanley Shows for the 1977 Columbia Heights Jamboree. The feeling of the Park Board was that the Columbia Heights Lions Club request Stanley Shows to allow more community organizations to participate in the Jamboree and that alm the Lions Club should be the deciding factor on who receives concessions. SKATEBOARDRUNWAYS Two ladies ~ere present from 51st and %th Street and were concerned about the danger of youngsters skateboarding in~Ltheir street and avenues. They said that no co-operation was received from parents or the police. They suggested that th~ City construct runway~ at McKenna for skateboarding. The Park Board members mentioned that they should talk to the police and City Council to block off some streets on certain nights in different parts of the City for this purpose. The Board also will consider construction of an area' for skateboarding next year depending upon the popularity of this activity.
