Members Present: Members Absent: John Rak, WilliamHollom, JoAnnMelin, Sebe Heintz~ Michael Farrell, John Murzyn. Gordon Schelde. READING OF APK~L t9, 1976MINUTES Motion by Heintz, seconded byMelin to approve the minutes of APril 21, 1976. Meeting as presented in writing and that the reading of these minutes be dispensed with. All ayes motion-carried. PAYMENT OF BILLs Motion by Farrell, seconded by Melin, to? pay all bills out of their proper funds as presented in ~iting. Ail ayes motion carried. VANDALISM AT GAUVITTE ~ Mr. Mortvedt ~s present to discuss the vandalism at Gauvitte. After some discussion a motion vms made by Hollom, seconded by Melin that the Park Board hold a special meeting at Gauvitte with the Police Chief in attendence to discuss safety in the park. PRESENTATION OF PLAQUE John Rak presented the plaque to Jo Bolles for her outstanding service to the Park Board from July 20 to May 1976. BIDS ON KEYES PARE BUILDING Motion by Farrell, seconded by Melin that the Park Board recommend to the City Council the low bidder of Nedegaard Construction Company for the construction of the Keyes Park BUilding in the amount of $53,930.00. All ayes motion carried. BIDS ON MOKENNA PARK LANDSCAPING Motion by~Melin, seconded by Farrell that the Pank Board accept the bid from Up A Tree at $4,053~54 for landscaping forMcKenna Park and not accept bid A. Ail ayes motion carried. BID ON PARK BENCHES Motion by Melin~ seconded by Hollom that the Park Board accept the low bid of Hamele and Associates for $1,~62 for the park benches. All ayes motion carried. H. B. FULLER COMPANY PROPOSM. This company has decided to work out their own maintenance in the rear of their building nem~ to the pisnic area. ART STRUCTURE EESIGN FOR LABELLE~PAR~ Motion by:Heintz, seconded by Hoilom that the 'Park Board use the design made by Gary Nygaard and to proceed to secure the plans and specifications for its construction. Ail ayes motion.carried. AUTHORIZATION FOR PLANS AND sPECIFiCATIONS FOR HIGH SCHOOL AND HUSET PARK TENNIS COURT LIGHTING. Letter was received from Mr. Watson that was sent to Mr. Ja~es Wolverton giving him authorization to draw up plans and specifications for lighting of Huset Park and Senior High Temais Courts. LETTERS AND REQUESTS ~otlonby Hollolm, Seconded by Farrell that the Park Board grant permission to Civil Defense Director to construct an outlet to hook up a generator in case of power failure in the Field House. All Ayes motion carried. LETTERS AND REQUESTS CONT. Murzyn to inform people when inquiring for rental of the Field House what they should look for and ask for from their insurance companies. Motion by Farrell, seconded by Hollom that the Park Board grant the Columbia Heights Jaycees their request to sell beer at the Columbia Heights Jamboree adjacent to the Jefferson Building. Ro~tl call: Heintz, Hollom, Farrell, ayes; Melin, naye, motion carried. Motionby Farrell seconded byMelin that the Park Board grant the Columbia Heights Jaycees the request to sell beer at the ~icentennial Celebration. All ayes motion carried. Mr. John Lattery, President of the Jaycees requested permission to sell beer during the Jamboree and Old Fashion Days. Mr. Heintz said that Dick Bierch, Lions Club Concession Chairman for the Jamboree, called him and said that they didn't want any beer sold. The Park Board then expressed their concern on granting permission with out the Lions Club approval. Mr. Rak stated that the Jaycees should work with the Lions Club on concessions or with the show people. Mr. Farrell said that the Park Board should grant permission and the Jaycees have a talk with the Lions Club. Murzyn to contact the city attorney about the legality of concession contract with the owner of the show, ie such as what does "not to be divided by Jefferson Street." The Jaycees should come back to the Park Board if they have any problems. Motion by Hollom, seconded by Heintz that the Park Board grant the Hockey Association request to sell beer at the Jamboree. Rak, Hollom, Heintz ayes. Melin and Farrell nayes. Motion carried. Motion by Hollom, seconded by Heintz that the Park Board grant the Hockey Assqciation request to sell beer at the Jamboree be contingent that they show proof of a plan amd policing their concession and that they secure dram insurance. Hollom, Farrell, Heintz, and Rak ayes; Melin naye. Motion carried. Motion by Melin, seconded by Farrell that we deny the request for selling beer by the Womens Fast Pitch Team at their softball tournament on June 5 and 6, 1976. All ayes motion carried. LIQUOR PEETS Motion by Farrell, seconded byHeintz that the Pa~kBoard grant liquor permits to the following reservations: Steve Larson on September 10, 1976 and Richard Gill on October 23, 1976. All ayes motion carried. BANDSTAND Murzyn reported that electronic man installing microphone system should be done tonight and the bandstand is ready for use. PRESTEMON SOFTBALL FIELD Murzyn reported that the softball field is ready for use by the Recreation Department. ADJ0~NT Motion by Hollom, seconded by Heintz to adjourn. All ayes motion carried.
