Members Present: John Rak, Sebe Heintz, Michael Farrell, JoAnne Melin, Gordon Schelde, and John Nmtrzyn. Also present was Clayton Ber~, Engineering Departmmut. Members Absent: William Hollom ~.MEMBER APPOINTED to PA~.K BOAP~. Chairman John Rak, in behalf of the Park Board Melcomed JoAnne Melin as the new member of the Pare Board, appointed by the City Council on N~y 14, 1974 to re- place the opening left from Ms~n Super's resignation. Motion by Sebe Heintz, seconded by JoAnne Melin that the minutes of the May I st, 197$ meeting be approved as presented in writing and the reading of these minutes be dispensed with. Ail ayes, motion carried. PAYMENT of B~-q Motion by Sebe Heintz, ~ha$.th~ b~'_lls 'be~paid~out of the p~op~r~fu~ds, as~presented on authorization sheet, seconded by Michael Farrell. All ayes, motion carried. LABELLE PARK ~r. Dean Otterson presented his status of LaBelle Park, as the Park Board requested, on authority of making changes, etc. in the dev~opment of the park. Sebe Heintz stated that the City Council feels, aslo that the Park Board has the responsibility of approving changes in concept of the Park. It was mentioned that Mr. Otterson should be in close contact with the Park Superintendent, John ~&trzyn, and he in turn shall keep the Park Board informed of any and all changes that he feels necessary to report, other than field changes. Mayor Bruce Nawrocki, Chief Merle Glader and the City Attorney Ron Ealina were pre- sent at this meeting of the Park Board to discuss safety in the parks. Many ideas were expressed by the above people, and the Park Board. Michael Farrell and JoAnne Melin w~l constitute a fact finder committee to report back to the Park Board with recommendations as to security in parks. Sebe Heintz made a motion, seconded by Gordon Schelde to refund the down payment on reservation of the hall for N~y 11, 1974 to Mrs. Strand. All ayes, motion carried. Motion by Michael Farrell, seconded by Sebe Heintz to allow the Columbia Heights Jaycees the use of softball fields on August 10, 1974 for a Regional Softball Tournament. All ayes, motion carried. PARK BOAR Sebe Heintz made a motion to hold Park Board meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of the month only, and special meetings as needed, seconded by Michael Farrell. ~ ayes, motion carried. UNDERGROUND WIRING AT }~THAIRE PARK Discussion was held on underground wiring at Mathaire Park by the Board members. Motion was made by Sebe Heintz, seconded by Michael Farrell to go ahead on ex- penditure for underground wiring at Mathaire Park Building. All ayes, motion carried. - Continued - }~iTOTES of MAY 15th, 1974 - Continued A~,~.RDING OF BAND After a dis¢:ussion on the possibilities and cost of building the bandstand, a motion was n~de by Sebe Heintz, seconded by Gordon Schelde to a~rd construction of the band s~md to the lowest responsible bidder.
