I. PROGRAMS:
A. Friends of the Library: The Friends met at the library on Monday, May 2nd at 1 :00 p.m.
and discussed the book sale. Erin and Rian Ashmore have been hired to transport the
books from storage to the activity room for the sale. The date for sorting books and
setting up the sale is Tuesday, June ih, 9:00 a.m.; pre-sale Wednesday, June 8th, 6:00-
8:00 p.m., and the book sale Thursday, June 9th, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. The Friends next
meeting will be held at noon on Tuesday, June 8th in the library activity room.
B. At-Home Service: I had two requests for "At Home Service"; they were delivered by
Sandi Engquist.
C. Bulk loans: Early this month, Lisa Robinson, the new coordinator at Royce Place, called
in regard to the bill on their account for a lost book. She said they would pay it, and then
would like the bulk loan service resumed. As of this date, I have not heard anymore or
received a check from Royce Place.
II. COLLECTION:
A. I placed an order for books on CD with Baker & Taylor, Books on Tape, and Recorded
Books.
B. Travel brochures and maps have started to arrive from State Tourism offices.
C. The 2005 Minneapolis yellow and white page directories have been received and also the
latest versions ofDex/Verizon directories for several suburbs and cities outside the
metropolitan area. We have a standing order for these directories.
III. PROEJCTS & GOALS:
A. Fidelity Cleaners: Sue Brown, substitute cleaner, continues to clean the library and does
an adequate job. I ordered maintenance supplies for her this month.
B. Supply ordering: Office and general supplies were ordered this month including
barcodes and security tags.
C. Volunteers: Sandi Engquist donated two hours by delivering books to "At home service"
patrons.
D. Supply budget sheet: I updated the monthly budget sheet for expenditures through May
23rd.
E. ILS: After implementation of the new ILS system, I have gained considerable experience
using Workflows at the circulation desk and Anokat on the PAC.
F. Book display: A display of new fiction and non-fiction has continued through the month.
G. Book Sale: I sent new releases on the Book Sale to the Northeaster and Focus News;
signs and flyers were sent to all ACL libraries and several Minneapolis Public libraries;
flyers have also been distributed to patrons at the circulation desk as they checkout
library materials.
H. Tours: Presented information on the library and gave a tour to 13 ESL Level I adult
students on Wednesday, May 25th.
IV. MISCELLANEOUS
A. Prepared weekly task calendar.
B. Prepared copy for the June Library Sampler.
C. Addressed library newsletter to City and ACL staff.
D. Withdrew shelf list cards of materials withdrawn.
E. Posted New York Times Best Seller List.
F. Supervised staff while Becky was away from the library on business.
G. Prepared copy for the employee newsletter.
