The Planning Commission met twice in November and December of 2000 to review a draft zoning document. Just so you are aware, the Planning Commission last reviewed Section 6 on December 5, 2000 and stopped at 9.612 (Off-street Parking and Loading). Also for your update, Community Development staff have been meeting regularly to stay ahead of the Planning Commission to fine tune the zoning document and address potential problem areas that we continually deal with. We as staff have almost completed Section 6, and we are planning to get through at least Section 8 by the time the Planning Commission meets on January 9, 2001. I anticipate that the Planning Commission will need another work session beyond January 9, 2001, in order to finish an appropriate reviewal of the Draft Zoning Ordinance. We will need to decide when an additional review can be done. When the Planning Commission completes its review of this draft document, staff recommends that a Public Forum be held to allow for citizen participation and comments related to this document before it is passed onto the City Council for approval. However, I am hopeful that we can adopt this ordinance in a timely fashion, in order to to appropriately address future development.
