Friends of the Library: The Friends did not meet in January. Their next meeting is th Monday, February 7 at 1:00 p.m. in the Library Boardroom at which Becky will present the “wish list”. B. At-Home Service: Sandi Engquist delivered items to two “At home” patrons. II. COLLECTION: A. I have completed weeding the fiction books-on-tape in preparation for our new computer program and am almost finished with the non-fiction. III. PROEJCTS & GOALS: A. Adult Reading Program: “Hot Reads for Cold Nights”, the annual adult reading program began on Monday, January 24. As of 1/28 seventy-five patrons have registered for the program. This already exceeds the total number registered last year by more than 20, and this is the first week of the program. When they register, patrons receive a bookmark and an entry from that they complete after reading two books. Twenty books is the maximum number they can read. Prizes will be awarded weekly and at the end of the program. B. Book display: This month’s book display is “Hot Reads for Cold Nights” and features newer fiction. The display will continue until the end of the adult reading program. C. Tax forms: Tax forms were displayed on Monday, January 10. Several Friends of the Library members helped me with this. We still have not received the reproducible Federal forms. I emailed the ACL system, and they have not received theirs either. D. Fidelity Cleaners: Karen our new cleaner is doing a satisfactory job cleaning the library. I have left a few messages in the communication notebook, and she takes care of all matters promptly. E. Supply ordering: I ordered library and office supplies this month. F. Volunteers: Volunteers donated 4 ½ hours delivering books to the homebound and shelf reading. IV. MISCELLANEOUS A. Sent out January Sampler to the ACL and City staff. B. Prepared weekly calendar. C. Added books to COH-DISP. D. Posted New York Times bestseller list, weekly. E. Posted signs for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day closing. F. Supervised staff while Becky was out of the office Jan. 19-21, Jan. 25-28, & Jan. 31. G. Conducted staff meetings on Friday, Jan. 21 & 28 H. Processed payroll on Friday, January 21. I. Prepared timesheets on Friday, January 21. J. Prepared copy for the February Sampler K. Wrote articles for the spring edition of Heights Happenings. MMK/jms
