PROGRAMS September Kindergarten 9/13/2004 17 1 Kindergarten 9/20/2004 8 1 st 1 grade 9/15/2004 12 1 5th grade 9/15/2004 22 1 1st grade 9/15/2004 14 1 2nd grade 9/16/2004 17 1 4th grade 9/16/2004 29 1 2nd grade 9/17/2004 16 1 Kindergarten 9/17/2004 18 1 Saturday Storytime 9/25/2004 3 2 A. ICS class visits began again in September. We will have 153 students visit the children’s department once each month (2004-2005 school year). B. Skipping Saturdays Storytime began on September 25. Library Supervisor, Dana Weigman is providing this family-oriented storytime alternative. I anticipate that attendance will start small and grow over the next few months, as Dana’s talents in the storytelling arena become better known locally. II. COLLECTION A. The easy “last copy” project continues. We have completed sections A through H. Cristy Tombarge, Library Aide, and the Pages have been checking transactions on titles within the collection. Kelly Olson, Library Clerk and I have been withdrawing those titles that are not award winning. I have not begun the collection development portion of this project as of yet. B. The final quarter of Listening Library’s standing order was placed this month. C. I am in the process of selecting audiocassette titles and CD music titles. D. Two small orders were placed through B&T in September. III. PROJECTS A. Additional programming for the Fall of 2004 has kept staff very busy. Posters and flyers have been designed, printed, and distributed for all of the following programs: 1. Scrapbooking for Teens 2. Death Gets A Red Card 3. I Was a Teenage Nobody and Look at Me Now! Programming for October is aimed at the youth of the community in celebration of Teen Read Week (October 17-23). B. Preparations will continue in October for two special Holiday Storytimes: 1. Halloween Family Storytime – Wednesday, October 27 at 6:30pm 2. Spooktacular Celebration – Saturday, October 30 at 2:00 pm IV. STAFF A. Cristy Tombarge, Library Aide completed two new book displays for the department, aided in the easy “last copy” project, aided in weeding desk files and reorganization of storytime materials. Cristy also printed all flyers relating to fall programming and the library newsletter. B. Pages relabeled paperback shelving racks, aided in transaction portion of the easy “last copy” project, folded brochures, and processed book orders. C. Library Clerk, Kelly Olson prepared all program flyers for printing, prepared layout and text for the September issue of the Sampler, and placed and received book orders. Kelly aided the Public Works Department in the design and production of 2004 City Goals posters for use in the council chambers at City Hall.
