SUBJECT: Operational Report, August 2004
DATE: August 31, 2004
I. PROGRAMS:
A. Friends of the Library: The Friends did not meet this month. Their next meeting is
scheduled for Monday, September 13, at 1:00 p.m. at the library.
B. At-Home Service: I had requests for three “At home deliveries”. They were delivered
by Sandi Engquist.
C. Bulk Loans: I selected and processed books for bulk loans to Parkview Villa and Royce
Place and delivered them on Wednesday, Sept. 1. The bulk loan to Royce Place is being
used extensively, and the recreation coordinator sends me requests from the residents for
books they would like included in the next delivery.
II. COLLECTION:
A. Audio books: The audiocassettes on English as a Second Language have arrived and will
be added to the collection shortly.
B. I have a standing order with Qwest Dex and each month receive several updated editions
of out-state phone directories. When received, they are placed in the reference section.
III. PROJECTS & GOALS:
A. Supply ordering: Miscellaneous supplies were ordered this month, and the supply locator
updated.
B. Fidelity Cleaners: This month there were only a few circumstances when I needed to
leave a message in the cleaner’s sign-in log, and he takes care of the matter that day.
Most days, the cleaner does an acceptable cleaning job, and there are no major issues at
this time.
C. Volunteers: Sandi Engquist donated two hours delivering books to “At home patrons”.
D. Book display: I selected books and arranged a display titled “Discover something new
about Minnesota” which included books on travel destinations, hiking, strange places,
and history of Minnesota. I also annotated these books for the August edition of the
library newsletter.
E. Budget sheet: I hope to complete the monthly budget sheet by the end of the month.
F. Procedures manual: I am in the process of updating my procedures manual.
G. Booklists/brochures: I have been working on a brochure on “online resources” and a
booklist of staff recommendations or “picks”. Some of the staff “picks” will be included
in the September library newsletter.
H. Tours: I gave a talk and tour to an adult level III ESL class from North Metro Adult
Education Center on Tuesday, August 31.
