Rebecca Loader, Library Director SUBJECT: July operational report DATE: July 29, 2004 I. Building Maintenance and Equipment A. The building has been plagued with plumbing disasters in July. The main floor restrooms required three repairs within three weeks. B. Mary conducted a walk-through with Fidelity Cleaners 7/20. C. Fidelity buffed the Activity Room floors 7/22. II. Collection A. Video and dvd orders were placed. B. Two adult paperback orders were placed. C. Weeding of the adult fiction is complete through the letter “L. III. Programs A. Four Tuesday Specials were held: 1. Johnny Pineapple (7/16). 2. Brodini (7/13). 3. Rusty’s Rockin’ Jamboree (7/20). 4. The Magic of Brian Richards (7/27). B. Four Funtimes were held: 1. “Pirates” (7/17). 2. “Owls” (7/14). 3. “Ladybugs” (7/21). 4. “Skunks” (7/28). C. The Board met 7/6 with four members present. IV. Technology: ACS and City LAN A. Becky attended the ILS meeting at the County 7/7 and the Circulation Task Force meeting 7/28. B. The RFP for the new automation system was posted on the Anoka County website 7/9. Responses are due back from the vendors by 8/13. V. Staff A. Joanne Peterson participated in the new employee tour of the City 7/16. B. Becky attended the Public Service meeting at Northtown 7/15 and the Library Operations Council meeting at LSS 7/29. C. Becky met with the City Manager and the Finance Director 7/19 to discuss the proposed 2005 Library budget. D. Becky attended a leadership/team-building session for the City Council and Division Heads on 7/19. Led by consultant Don Salverda, the follow-up session is scheduled for 8/2. E. Becky helped staff the ACL booth at the County Fair 7/31. VI. Foundation A. The Foundation Board met 7/8 to do a follow-up on the benefit at the Heights Theatre. Ticket money and silent auction money were turned in to the treasurer. A final accounting will be available soon. Consensus was to not meet in July and August. The next meeting is set for 9/16. VII. Miscellaneous A. Major projects: 1. Proposed 2005 budget. 2. Task force work concerning new automation system. 3. Recruitment of new pages. 4. Building maintenance. 5. Summer programs and covering staff vacations. B. As part of a cost-saving measure, the Library was closed the Saturday before the th 4 of July holiday. Staffing for this Saturday has always been difficult. On July 6, staff was greeted by a huge send/item list, a huge delivery, and huge numbers of patrons. The amount of business generated on 7/6 broke records in many buildings across Anoka County. C. A MELSA crossover use survey was conducted 7/26. VIII.
