Friends of the Library: During the summer, the Friends will not be meeting. Marie Marquart, coordinator of the Friend’s Campbell’s Labels for Education Program passed away on July 23. Over the years she has trimmed and bundled thousands and thousands of labels that were redeemed for items useful to the Library. I attended her wake and funeral. She will be missed by the Friends and Library staff. B. At-Home Service: One of the homebound patrons is moving out of the area so service to her will be discontinued this month. One delivery was made to another homebound patron. C. Bulk Loans: I selected and processed bulk loans for Parkview Villa and Royce Place and delivered them on Wednesday, July 7. II. COLLECTION: A. Several updated out-state telephone directories were received and put in the reference section. B. I am still waiting for the audiocassettes on English as a Second Language to arrive. C. Additional travel brochures have been received and added to the vertical file. III. PROJECTS & GOALS: A. Annual report flyer: The annual report flyer is ready for distribution and printed in color and black and white. B. Fidelity Cleaners: Fidelity Cleaners conducted a walk-through on Tuesday, July 13. There are no major issues with the cleaners at this time. Andrew continues to do a decent job cleaning. If there is a problem, I note it in his sign-in book, and he takes care of it when he cleans in the evening. C. Volunteers: Sandi Engquist volunteered one hour delivering books to a homebound patron. D. Budget sheet: I updated the monthly budget sheet of supply expenditures through July 26, 2004. E. Book display: I arranged a display of 2003 and 2004 fiction, “Summer Reading”, for the panel in the lobby of the library. F. Supply ordering: I ordered miscellaneous office and library supplies. G. Booklist: Compiled a list of books with annotations on vacation ideas in Minnesota to be included in the August library newsletter. IV. MISCELLANEOUS A. Added books to the COH-NEW displays. B. Posted the New York Times bestseller list. C. Sent out newsletters to City and ACL staff. D. Prepared weekly task calendars. E. Supervised staff while Becky was out of the office July 20-23. F. Processed payroll and conducted a staff meeting on Friday, July 23. G. Prepared copy for the August Sampler including an article on three online resource databases. H. Updated addresses on patron records when overdue notices were returned to the library by the post office. MMK/kjo
