Friends of the Library: The Friends met for a luncheon meeting on Monday, June 7, at 11:00 a.m. at the Dragon House restaurant. At the meeting, I gave each member a copy of the financial report showing book sale figures from 1980-2004. The Friends again th expressed how pleased they are with the amount they made at their sale on May 16. On 6/9/2004, Becky received the bill for the router and contacted Nancy Rathbun, Friends president. The Friends agreed to pay the entire amount of $1,260.00 for the router. Later on in the week, Gloria Tarmann Friends treasurer, brought in the check for the router. The Friends will not meet in July and August. Their next meeting date is Monday, Sept. 13, 1:00 p.m. in the Library boardroom. B. At-Home Service: I had two requests for “At Home Service” this month. The books were delivered by Sandi Engquist. C. Bulk Loans: I selected and processed bulk loans for Parkview Villa and Royce Place and delivered them on Wednesday, June 2. II. COLLECTION: A. Several updated out-state telephone directories were received and put in the reference section. B. A few additional travel brochures arrived, and were labeled and put in the vertical file. C. A selection of audiotapes on English as a Second Language were ordered. III. PROJECTS & GOALS: A. Fidelity Cleaners: Andrew the new cleaner is doing a decent job cleaning the library. We had one incident though where he threw away two items that were not marked for the trash or recycling. Fortunately, the items were recovered from the trash dumpster. I emailed Sheryl Enrico about this, and she will have Mitch Bauman, Andrew’s supervisor talk to him. B. Supply ordering: I took the annual inventory of library supplies. Numerous items were ordered including general, office, and computer supplies. Purchase orders were prepared and submitted. C. Volunteers: During June, volunteers donated three hours in the adult section. D. Budget sheet: The monthly budget sheet for expenditures through June 14 will be completed before the end of the month. E. Bulletin Board: The bulletin board, “Reading Fun, Summer Sun” continues in the main lobby of the library. F. Annual Report Flyer: Final text was given to Kelly for the annual report flyer. G. Heights Happenings: I completed the text for the fall edition of Heights Happening and gave it to Jeanine for typing. H. Routine Tasks: By the end of the month, I will have completed withdrawing shelf list cards listed on the monthly withdrawn sheets. IV. MISCELLANEOUS A. Added books to the COH-NEW displays B. Posted the New York Times bestseller list th C. Posted signs for the library closing for the 4 of July holiday D. Sent out library newsletters to ACL staff and City employees E. Supervised staff and conducted a staff meeting on Fridays, June 4 and 11 when Becky was out of the office th F. Processed payroll on Friday, June 11 G. Prepared weekly task calendars H. Prepared copy for the July issue of the Library Sampler I. Updated addresses on patron records after notices were returned by the post office MMK/jms
