Operational Report, April 2004
April 30, 2004
I. PROGRAMS:
A. Friends of the Library: The Friends of the Library met on Monday, April 5, at 1 :00 p.m.
in the Boardroom with Margaret Anderson presiding. The sign up sheets for setting up
and working at the upcoming book sale were passed around to the members. This year
for the first time, the Friends will be responsible for arranging the change for the pre-sale
and book sale. In the past, Becky has arranged for the change. I had the Friends consider
raising the prices this year at the sale to: adult hard covers $1.50, children's hard covers
$1.00, paperbacks 50 cents, jigsaw puzzles 75 cents, videos and cd's $2.00, and cassettes
(music or ac books) 50 cents per cassette. The Friends will vote on these price increases
at their next meeting. Wish list items were discussed, and I informed members that
Becky would be ordering the mats and cd browser bins as soon as she could. The Friends
next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 5 at lunchtime on book sorting day. The
Friend's June meeting will be a luncheon meeting on Monday, June 7,2004 at 11 :00 at
Dragon House restaurant, 3970 Central Ave. N.E. The Friends will not meet in July and
August.

III. PROJECTS & GOALS:
A. Tax forms: The tax form center was dismantled on Friday, April 16, and remaining
forms and booklets recycled.

ordered plastic library bags to be given to the first 100 patrons who came into the library
during the week and also organized a guessing contest. Prizes will be awarded to the
patrons who came closest to guessing the correct number of library cards in the jar.
F. Display panel: A book display of books on D-Day and Dwight Eisenhower was put up
on Friday, April 23. This display coordinates with the sixtieth anniversary of D-Day, and
a weeklong commemoration of this event on the History Channel beginning May 29.

Engquist donated two hours by delivering books to homebound patrons.
