Operational Report, February 2004
February 27, 2004
I. PROGRAMS:
A. Friends of the Library: Because of the snowy weather on Monday, February 2nd the
Friends of the Library meeting was cancelled by President, Nancy Rathbun.
B. At-Home Service: I had two requests for "At Home Service".
C. Bulk Loans: I selected, processed, and delivered bulk loans on Wednesday, February 4th
to Parkview Villa and Royce Place.
II. COLLECTION:
A. Collection development: I did not have an opportunity to work on collection
development this month.
III. PROEJCTS & GOALS:
A. Tax forms: Many people have come in this month for tax forms. The portable file
continues to work well and much better than the revolving holder we had used. I
reordered several individual federal and Minnesota tax forms and posted additional tax
signs. I am waiting for Vol. 2 of the reproducible tax forms.
B. Book display: This month's book display features new fiction by contemporary African
American writers.
C. Adult Reading Program: The adult reading program, "Hot Reads for Cold Nights" will
continue through Saturday, February 28th. As of 2/1 1/04, 54 patrons have registered for
the program. Weekly prizes have been awarded. The registration count is lower than last
year possibly due to the cold and snowy weather we have been having. The prizes for the
adult reading program were placed in the display case in the east room. I entered all the
program participants in Excel so a circulation count can be made on the number of books
checked out during the program.
D. Fidelity Cleaners: There were no important issues with the cleaners this month.
E. Volunteers: As of 2/1 1/04, volunteers have donated four hours this month. Not included
in this count are Debra Patrin's volunteer hours for upcoming Saturday's 2/14,2/21, and
2/28.
F. Maintenance items: I performed maintenance on the security system, replaced air
deodorizers in the bathrooms and checked all the building's fire extinguishers.
G. Annual report: I prepared the data sheet for the 2003 annual report.
H. Supply ordering: Numerous general supplies were ordered and received.
I. Supply budget: I used Excel to set up the 2004 supply budget sheet and posted
expenditures through 2/9/04.
