II. COLLECTION A. Weeding and mending of the J paperback collection is 50% complete. Step two in this project (filling in the missing series titles) will begin in January. B. I have begun evaluating the Y A collection for weeding. Many of the hardcover titles have limited circulation but are worthwhile keeping within the collection. I would like to explore the possibility of a rotating collection (similar to the large print rotation) within the County. It seems to me that a rotation of the collection could be of benefit to other libraries. Meanwhile, I will be discarding from this section in January. C. The first book order for 2004 is prepared and ready to send January 2. Library Clerk, Kelly Olson submitted the following magazine status report for December: This month we had problems with two titles: Outdoor Life and House Beautiful. Our last copy of Outdoor Life was November; House Beautiful was October. EBSCO was contacted and a copy of the December Outdoor Life is being sent. We have also received some of our new titles and added: Your Big Backvard, Transworld Snowboarding, Nickelodeon, Crafty Kids, and Boys Quest. I intend on starting the magazine shift in January. PROJECTS A. The Library's 75th birthday party was a success. Response from visitors was very favorable; patrons enjoyed the historical tales provided by Bob Gasch, the magic provided by David Taylor, and the door prizes courtesy of numerous businesses. B. Planning and scheduling for 2004 is well underway. I expect to have departmental calendars prepared by January 9. C. Purchase requisitions have been prepared for Janway (supplier ofMELSA summer reading club materials). All orders for these materials must be placed by 1/15/2004. D. I have begun working on the Super Tuesday schedule of performers for 2004. E. Heights Happenings copy deadline is January 13. F. Storytime sessions begin the week of January 19. III. STAFF A. Pages have been busy aiding in an inventory of Storytime materials. They also helped with preparations for the Library's 75th birthday party. These tasks were in addition to their regular schedule of shelving, processing, mending and shelf reading. B. Library Aide, Cristy Tombarge updated the library's power point presentation, aided in preparations for the 75th birthday celebration, greeted guests at the birthday celebration, and developed an inventory of the storytime puppet collection. C. Library Clerk, Kelly Olson prepared invitations and flyers for the 75th birthday party, greeted guests at the event, received the last of the 2003 book orders, produced (layout and copy) for the December Sampler newsletter.
