November operational report

I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE
A. Public Works attached the new coin-op for the public-use copier to the wall 11/5.
B. The windows were cleaned 11/18.
C. Mary conducted a walk-through with Fidelity Cleaners 11/20.
II. COLLECTION
A. Year-end orders for audio cassettes, video cassettes, cd's, and dvd's were placed.
B. Standing orders were reviewed and revised.
C. The subscriptions for the Christian Science Monitor and the Minneapolis Star/Tribune on
microfilm were cancelled.
D. The periodical renewal invoice was updated with extended subscription dates before being
processed for payment.
III. EQUIPMENT
A. The coin-operated public-use copier was delivered 11/4.
B. Paul installed the Mita copier option on all pc's 11/7. Print jobs can be sent directly to the
departmental copier.
C. The microfilm reader/printer had to be repaired 11/17.
D. The Internet browser workstation on the main floor was broken 11/19. It has been
temporarily repaired and must be replaced in the near future.
E. A remote monitoring device was installed in the elevator by Schindler.
F. The newly-repaired and painted bench was returned to the courtyard.
IV. PROGRAMS
A. The Friends met 11/3 with nine members present.
B. Project Bookshelf started 11/3.
C. The classes from ICS came during their regular schedule the week of 11/3.
D. Five sessions of preschool storytime were held over the month.
E. The Library Board met 11/4 with five members present. New Board member Audrey Hyatt
was welcomed to her first meeting.
F. The bulk loan to the senior high rises was delivered 11/5.
G. The Friends placed address labels on the 75th Anniversary invitations 11/10.
H. The Web2 classes were conducted.
I. Integrated Waste Management put up a holiday re-use display 11/17.
1. National Children's Book Week was celebrated 11/17-11/22.
K. A joint class on using the online catalog was sponsored by the Library and ISD # 13 11/17.
L. An ESL class toured the Library 11/18.
M. The Library Foundation Board met 11/19 with 6 members present.
N. The bulk loan to the schools was delivered 11/20.

V. AUTOMATED CIRCULATION SYSTEM
A. No changes.
VI. STAFF
A. Applications for the page position were accepted through close of business 11/10.
Interviews were conducted 11/18-11/26.
B. Three pages had performance reviews in November.
C. Jeanine participated in a cable shoot 11/18.
D. Becky met with Peggy Riha, Mississippi Branch Librarian, about the revision of the
Technology Plan 11/20.
E. Board President Barb Miller and Becky gave a presentation about the "It's Our Birthday"
open house at the Council meeting 11/24.
F. Becky and Marsha met with the pages 11/25 to negotiate winter schedule.
VII. MISC
A. The police removed a man from the main floor restroom at closing 11/14.
B. A MELSA crossover survey was conducted 11/25.
C. Projects in process:
1. Approval of proposed 2004 budget.
2. Technology Plan revision: Columbia Heights Public Library.
3. Technology Plan revision: Anoka County Library.
4. "It's Our Birthday" open house 12/3/03.
5. NEI proposed development.
6. Interviews for page positions.
7. Part-time winter schedules revisions.
