Operational Report, August 2003
August 29,2003
I. PROGRAMS:
A. Friends of the Library: The Friends did not meet during the summer. Their next meeting is
scheduled for Monday, September 8, at 1 :00 in the library boardroom. On October 6t\ the
Friends will have a dinner meeting starting at 5:30 at Keys Restaurant in Spring Lake Park. I will
be preparing an invitation for this dinner meeting to be sent out mid September.
B. At home service: I had three requests from "At Home patrons" for library materials, and Sandi
Engquist delivered them. I had one request for materials to be renewed.
C. Bulk Loans: I selected, processed, and delivered bulk loans to Parkview Villa, Heights Manor,
and Royce Place on Wednesday, August 6.
II. COLLECTION:
A. I placed my second order for books-on-tape with Baker & Taylor. The money I had budgeted for

A. Supply ordering: Miscellaneous office and library supplies were ordered and received.
B. 75th Anniversary Celebration: I sent out "Patron of the month" certificates to each of the 19
volunteers. To recognize the volunteers, I displayed their photos on the main bulletin board and
wrote an article for the August Library Sampler.
C. Book display/Bookmark/Booklists: I'm in the process of developing a book display of "read-a-
likes" featuring authors who write similar to Janet Evanovich, James Patterson, John Sandford,
and Jan Karon. This display will have bookmarks listing the "read-a-like" authors. I've
completed the Janet Evanovich "read-a-like" bookmark and will continue on this project next
week. The display will be up by the middle of September. The display of newer fiction
continues.
