I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE
A. The carpet tile in the main entry and the elevator car was replaced 6/30. A major patch was
made to the seam line between the lobby and the Adult Reading Room.
B. The Adult Reading Room required a new lighting ballast 7/9.
C. Mindy conducted a walk-through inspection with Fidelity Cleaners 7/10.
II. COLLECTION
A. Two paperback orders were submitted.
B. The adult fiction weeding project proceeded slowly but surely.
C. The adult 100-299's were weeded.
D. The adult 600's weeding project was started. This area was targeted for collection
development in 2003.
E. The pages worked on cleaning the cd collection.
III. EQUIPMENT
A. Examination of various copiers to replace the departmental copier continued throughout the
month. A selection will be made and installed before 9/4/03.
B. The Scala equipment used to run the Library's cable television station was replaced 7/18.
This equipment is the same as the equipment at City Hall and maintains the integrated
system for broadcast.
C. The phone system developed internal problems with direct paging 7/7. Paul was able to fix
the problem in house.
D. The Toshiba copier required a service call 7/10.
IV. PROGRAMS
A. The Board met 7/1 with three members present.
B. The Foundation Board met 7/1 with three members present.
C. The bulk loan was delivered to the High Rises on 7/2.
D. Tuesday Specials were held 7/8 (Magical Mia), 7/15 (Schiffelly Puppets), 7/22 (Nancy,
Eddie, & Friends), and 7/29 (Rusty's Rockin' Jamboree).
E. Marsha presented two storytimes to summer school classes at Valley View 7/9.
F. Preschool Fun times were held 7/10 (Firefighter), 7/17 (Horticulturist), 7/24 (Scientist), and
7/31 (Etymologist). Thanks to the Columbia Heights Fire Department for the excellent job
they did at the 7/10 program.
G. AN ESL level 4 class visited the Library 7/24.
V. AUTOMATED CIRCULATION SYSTEM
A. No changes.
VI. STAFF
A. The part-time Supervisor schedule has been set for September through December.
B. Kelly judged banners for the Columbia Heights Day Care Providers' Olympics at Huset Park
7/16.
C. Becky attended the Anoka County Library Public Service Meeting 7/17.
D. Becky attended PowerPoint training 7/21.
E. Jeanine participated in a cable shoot 7/24.

All 2003 budget projections were completed, and the fund balance and donation accounts
were rectified.
The Library Board completed the policy manual review at their July meeting.
Budget preparation and reviewal has taken a considerable amount of staff time during the
month. The proposed 2004 budget will be presented to the City Council at their first
meeting in August.
A MELSA survey was conducted 7/31.
