Preparations are complete for the summer programming with the exception of posters for our Super Tuesday Specials. These should be ready by June 2. Registration is underway for summer story time, we have 6 children registered at this time. Thirteen girls have registered for the American Girl celebration and we haven't begun advertising yet. Registration for summer reading programs begins June 2. C. Volunteers are on board and ready for a full summer. I met with fifteen volunteers on May 21 and established schedules. I anticipate a total of 16 volunteers for the summer. They are a great bunch of young people eager, ready and willing to help out. II. COLLECTION A. Collection development is underway in the Y A section. This month I placed an order for expansion and updates to the graphic novels and Y A non-fiction paperback sections. The hardcover section appears to be in good shape though I am preparing a paperback order for those "hot" titles that will get high demand this summer. B. Two B&T children's book orders were placed during May. Titles were received and entered by May 30. C. I am working on a CD order and Books on Tape order. I hope to have these submitted by June 15. III. PROJECTS A. Heights Jamboree is looming on the horizon and the Children's Department is hard at work preparing our parade entry. The emphasis this year will, of course, be 75 years of Library Service. Several volunteers signed up to march with the staff and I am fast at work lobbying our pages for their participation. Our parade entries will feature Minnesota fiction and non-fiction for adults and several "in demand" book titles for children. IV. STAFF A. Library Aid Cristy Tombarge prepared two new displays this month: So you wanna be... display of crafts as part of Summer Storytime and" Best Books from Minnesota... Says YOU!, a display of Maud Hart Lovelace winners and nominees past and present. Cristy also developed the sample crafts items, printed flyers for distribution to the schools, helped with the Book sale set up and dismantling, and aided in preparation of volunteer training packets. B. Library Clerk Kelly Olson, Attended a CPR training class, participated in the volunteer training session, represented the Library at an Immaculate Conception School community luncheon, placed and received several book orders and continued receiving back issues of magazines. C. The Pages have been busy preparing craft pieces for the upcoming summer storytime, bulletin board pieces for Summer reading program and a variety of flyers and booklists for distribution this summer
