I. PROGRAMS:
A. Friends of the Library: The Friends met on Monday, May 5, 2003, and finalized the plans for
their annual used book sale. They sorted books for the sale on Wednesday, May 14t\ from 9-12
noon. The presale was held on Wednesday evening, which was attended by 49 people who
purchased tickets at $5.00 each. The book sale was held on Thursday, May 15t\ from 9:00 a.m. -
8:00 p.m. The Friends made $1,698.99 from the sale. Almost $1,000 was taken in at the presale,
with an additional $245.00 from the pre-sale tickets. The Friends are considering raising the
prices for next year's sale. The sale was a huge success, well attended, and lots of work. At the
meeting, I presented the Friends with their certificate honoring them as May's Patron of the
Month. Their next meeting is Monday, June 2nd, at 1 :00 at the library. They will not meet in July

These materials will soon be labeled and placed in the vertical file.
III. PROJECTS & GOALS:
A. Displays: "What ya doin' this summer?" is the theme for May's book display and features books
on summer activities. Included are books on fishing, camping, hiking, biking, walking, climbing,
RVing, motorcycling, golfing, and grilling.
B. I dismantled the library's display from the City showcase.
C. Supply ordering: I started the inventory of our office and library supplies. I started redoing the
inventory list on Excel. This list will include an item description, amount on hand, and quantity
ordered. It can easily be updated each year. Some miscellaneous office supplies were ordered
during the month.
D. I placed the annual copier paper order with Anchor Paper. I did a list of our copier paper on
Excel showing paper weight, brand name, color, size, amount on hand, and quantity ordered.
This will be updated annually.
E. Bulletin Board: I displayed a set of cartoon posters, which I purchased from Demco. The posters
have matching bookmarks, which patrons can pick up in May and June.
F. 75th Anniversary Celebration: For June's "Patrons of the Month", I interviewed the Szurek and
Ashmore families. Both families are pleased to receive this recognition. An article on each
family and their photo will appear in the June library newsletter. I displayed a photo of the
Friends as May's Patron of the Month.
