I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE
A. The roof in the adult reading room leaked around the air conditioning unit 5/5 and 5/8.
Daleo and Honeywell are working on a solution.
B. The windows were washed 5/7.
C. Honeywell changed the filters of the HV AC 5/27.
D. Quotes to fix the carpet seam between the lobby and the Adult Reading Room were taken.
Quotes were also taken to replace the carpet tiles in the main floor lobby entryway.
II. COLLECTION
A. The large print rotation occurred 5/28.
B. Paperback and hardcover book orders were placed during the month.
C. Four shipments of videos, music cd's, DVD's, book cd's and book audiocassettes were all
received.
D. The adult fiction weeding project is progressing slowly.
III. EQUIPMENT
A. Aleksandr worked on the staff pc's 5/16 to shorten the amount of time needed to sign on and
to load all the programs.
B. Kelly's pc will be replaced based on Aleksandr's recommendation.
C. The public use copier required a service call 5/22.
IV. PROGRAMS
A. The last bulk loan of the year was delivered to the schools 5/1.
B. The Friends met 5/5 with 12 members present.
C. The ICS students visited the Library for their last round the week of 5/5.
D. The Life Skills class from the high school toured the Library 5/6.
E. The Board met 5/6 with 5 members present. The Foundation Board also met 5/6 with 5
members present.
F. The bulk loan to the high rises was delivered 5/7.
G. Two pre-school field trips visited the Library 5/8, and one pre-school field trip visited 5/9.
H. Becky, Kelly and Marsha met 5/13 to layout the placards for the Jamboree Parade.
I. The Friends sorted materials and set up for the books ale 5/14. The pre-sale was held 5/14
and the books ale 5/15.
1. Delivery of materials within the Anoka County Library changed to Monday-Wednesday-
Friday 5/19.
K. The final bulk loan pick-up of the school year was 5/22.
L. Marsha presented a program on Summer Reading Club to the ICS classes 5/28.
V. AUTOMATED CIRCULATION SYSTEM
A. The replacement for "Perfect Paul", the automated program for telephone renewals and
notifications, has been ordered.
VI. STAFF
A. Marsha attended the Summer Reading Club meeting 5/1.
B. Marsha, Mindy, and Kelly attended the CPR re-certification classes 5/12 and 5/14.
C. Becky attended the Community Prayer Breakfast 5/14.
D. Along with other Columbia Heights Management staff, Becky participated in the tour of the
NEI building 5/14.
E. Marsha and Becky met with the pages 5/20 to negotiate summer schedule.
F. Becky and Mindy met 5/7,5/22, and 5/29 to discuss progress on obtaining information on
copIers.
G. Kelly celebrated her 11th year with the City and the Library.
H. Jeanine participated in a cable shoot 5/29.
I. Marsha, Kelly, and Becky met with the summer volunteers 5/21 to arrange schedules.
1. Becky and Cristy updated the 75th Anniversary slide show 5/1.
K. Becky prepared the summer schedule for the part-time Library Supervisors.
VII. MISC
A. A MELSA crossover survey was conducted 5/21.
B. The Library Board is working on a review of the Library Policy Manual. Five policies at a
time are reviewed and submitted for re-approval.
C. The 2004 proposed budget is in process.
