Operational Report, April 2003

I. PROGRAMS:
A. Friends of the Library: The Friends of the Library met for a dinner meeting at 5:30 p.m. on
Monday, April i\ at the Keys Restaurant in Spring Lake Park. I drafted an invitation, and
mailed it in March. At their meeting, they discussed the book sale and signed up to work at the
sale. The Friends next meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 5t\ to finalize the book sale plans.
Book sorting will be the morning of Wednesday, May 14t\ pre-sale that evening from 6 - 8 p.m.,
and sale on Thursday, May 15t\ from 9 - 8 p.m.
B. At home Service: During the month, four "At home patrons" requested a delivery.
C. Bulk Loans: I selected and processed bulk loans to Park View Villa, Heights Manor, and Royce
Place. Marsha Tubbs delivered the bulk loans.
II. COLLECTION:
A. Collection development: I continued compiling a list of books on compact disc and audiocassette
for an order I plan to submit before the end of the month.
B. I drafted a letter and sent it to each state travel bureau requesting travel information and a state
map. By the end of April, I have received packets of information from several of the states.
III. PROEJCTS & GOALS:
A. Annual report flyer: I assisted Kelly with the production of the annual report flyer.
B. Tax forms: The tax form display was dismantled the morning of April 16. The 2003
reproducible forms were shelved in the workroom. The notebooks of 2002 forms were placed in
the vertical file.
C. Supply ordering: During the month, I placed orders for office and cleaning supplies. I also did
an inventory of our office paper and put it on Excel. An order for office paper will be placed
shortly.
D. Book Sale Promotion: Promotional posters on the book sale were sent to all Anoka County
Libraries, and news releases sent to the Northeaster and Focus. I also contacted City Hall for
their outdoor display board and Northeast State Bank.
E. Display: Organized a display on the library for the City Hall showcase.
IV. MISCELLANEOUS
A. Ordered Minnesota Explorer newspaper and travel guides
B. Ordered Minnesota Grown directories
C. Posted NYTimes Best Seller List
D. Filed in the shelf list
E. Removed shelf list cards of books withdrawn.
F. I was gone from the library for a family medical emergency April 3 - 11
